Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear sir,
I am writing this letter in responce to give feedback either sports are better or open air concerts. In my perpective both have their own importabnce. Physical fitness and enjoyment both are essential.
If you are sponsoring sports team it's enahnce children's physical health. Children has courage and datermination. They work hard to achieve goals and illuminate their country name. Furthermore it's give them perspective of life.
On the other hand if you spend money on concerts it's give an opportunity to individuals to enjoy in open air. It's also raise ecnomical condition of the country.
Company has to spend money wisely. They should spend their money on both occasions by divinding them equally. It's depend on individuals moods that what they want. Thus I had share my idea to the company. I hope company must think abouty it. But if they would choose one thing than sports is best opion.
Thanking you for asking our opinion.
Yours faitthfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points and give a clear recommendation: you favour dividing the money equally, while adding that sports would be the better single choice. The benefits of sponsoring the team include children’s physical health, determination and goal-setting, and you mention enjoyment and economic benefits from concerts. These ideas are relevant, but some are only briefly stated. For example, “illuminate their country name” does not clearly explain a practical benefit, and the concerts’ economic impact is asserted without saying how local people or businesses would benefit. Develop each point with a specific explanation, and make your final preference consistent: explain why an equal split is best, or clearly choose one option.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable overall structure: an opening, a paragraph about sports, a contrast introducing concerts, and a recommendation with a closing. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the comparison. However, the progression becomes less clear when you recommend an equal division and then say sports is the best option if only one can be chosen; the relationship between these positions needs to be explained. Some connections are also mechanical, with repeated sentence openings such as “It’s” and “They.” Use clearer paragraphing to separate the two options from your final recommendation, and use pronouns and linking expressions that make the relationships between ideas explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “physical fitness,” “determination,” “goals,” and “open air,” so the main ideas can generally be understood. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable and sometimes make meaning unclear. For instance, “perpective,” “importabnce,” and “ecnonomical” are misspelled, while “illuminate their country name” is an unnatural expression and “enjoy in open air” is not an appropriate collocation. The range is also limited, with broad terms such as “good,” “best,” and “important” doing much of the work. Build a bank of accurate phrases for community benefits, such as “support young people’s development” and “attract visitors to local businesses,” and check spelling carefully.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and more complex forms, including the conditional “if you are sponsoring…” and the contrast between the two options. The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction reduce accuracy. Examples include “Children has courage,” “it’s give them perspective,” and “It’s depend on individuals moods”; these should use correctly formed verbs and possessives. The opening sentence is also awkwardly constructed, and the final recommendation contains a long sequence of ideas that would be clearer as separate sentences. Practise checking subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and aim to produce a wider variety of accurate complex sentences rather than joining ideas without clear grammatical links.
