Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
i like to take this opportunity to explain the benefits of supporting and sponsoring the local team, Childrens sports teams already famous in local community for different kinds of supports and once you fund them and provide T shirts showing the logo of your company will provide a very positive image of your company.
Same goes for open air concenrt as teams from all over the city coming and participate in that concert and if your company pay for the said concert it will be beneficial for both the parties. As local teams will get financial support and you will get marketing and advertising support.
In addition, i want to explain how you can spend funds, as this concert if for three days and night. We will be needed flash lights, sport equipments, and seating arrangment. we are also looking for some refreshment for the guests for that we will charge nominal amount. our plan is that we will display your company logo on T shirts, billboards, stage and will deliver a tw minutes thanking speech for your company.
we will really appreciate your efforts to support local team and concert.
Thanks

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You address the general topic and give some relevant benefits: sponsorship could create a positive company image through branded T-shirts, while concerts could offer marketing and advertising. However, the task asks you to compare two specific options and state which one the company should choose. Your recommendation is unclear: the letter shifts to planning a three-day event, equipment, refreshments and logo placement, without clearly choosing between sponsoring the team for two years and paying for two concerts. The benefits of supporting the children’s team are also only briefly explained, and the concert benefits are not clearly summarised as a separate option. Make your preference explicit and develop each option’s benefits in relation to the company and local community.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has paragraphs and uses basic linking expressions such as “Same goes for” and “In addition,” so the reader can identify a broad movement from benefits to spending ideas and thanks. However, the progression is not consistently clear: the third paragraph moves from choosing how to spend the funds to describing a three-day concert and its practical arrangements, which does not follow the two options in the prompt. Some connections are also unclear, particularly “As local teams will get financial support and you will get marketing and advertising support.” Organise the letter around the two alternatives, then give your recommendation in a separate closing paragraph. Clearer transitions and more precise references would make the ideas easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sponsoring,” “financial support,” “marketing and advertising,” “billboards” and “logo.” This gives you enough basic language to communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make the letter less clear or less professional, such as “concenrt,” “equipments,” “arrangment” and “tw minutes.” Some phrases are also awkward, including “different kinds of supports” and “a thanking speech.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and vocabulary that distinguishes the options, such as community participation, brand visibility and long-term youth development. Proofreading spelling and choosing more precise phrases would strengthen the message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, for example, “if your company pay for the said concert it will be beneficial for both the parties.” However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Examples include “i like to take this opportunity,” “Childrens sports teams already famous,” and “we will be needed flash lights,” which show problems with capitalisation, sentence structure, verb forms and agreement. There are also run-on sentences where several ideas are joined without clear punctuation. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check verb agreement and tense. Breaking long sentences into shorter, correctly punctuated ones will improve accuracy and readability.
