Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir,
I hope that you are doing well. I am writting to give my opinion on how your company should invest money in the benefit of our community.
As you know that cricket is the most watched sports in our country. It would be great if you invest in the children's cricket team because there are so many talented players in it and they are filled with so much passion energy. This coud be your best investment in my perspective because the only only thing that this cricket team needs is financial support. As you know that these childern's are from poor families and they can't afford expensive kits.
Conserts can also be a good thing to invest in. As you know there was not a single concert that took placed in our area from last 2 years. People of this sociaty will be very happy if your company would pay for two open-air concerts.
In my opinion company should invest in the cricket team because the childern's need this money more than anyone for their required kits to play cricket.
I would be very grateful if your company spend this amount on the childern's cricket team.
Your Sincerely,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three requested points and make your recommendation clear: you favour supporting the children’s cricket team because its players need financial help for equipment. The explanation that the children come from low-income families and cannot afford kits gives the recommendation a relevant reason. You also mention the concerts’ benefit—local residents would welcome them after a period without concerts. However, the two options are not developed equally: the sports-team benefits are more specific, while the concert section mainly states that people would be happy. Explain what the concerts could offer the community, such as accessible entertainment or a shared local event, and make the benefits of each option more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a clear overall sequence: an opening stating its purpose, a paragraph on the cricket team, one on concerts, and a final recommendation. This makes your position easy to follow. You use basic links such as “because” and “In my opinion” to connect reasons and conclusions. Some cohesion is repetitive or mechanical, particularly the repeated “As you know” and the repeated reference to the children needing money for kits in both the sports paragraph and conclusion. The opening and closing also need more appropriate letter conventions. Use a more consistent formal greeting and sign-off, and connect the paragraphs with varied, natural transitions while avoiding repeating the same reason.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main ideas, including “financial support,” “talented players,” “passion,” and “open-air concerts.” However, the range is limited and several spelling or word-choice errors are noticeable, such as “writting,” “coud,” “Conserts,” “sociaty,” and “childern's.” Some expressions are also unnatural or imprecise: “invest money in the benefit of our community” and “the only only thing” weaken clarity and polish. Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, for example, “invest in the community” and “provide funding for equipment.” A broader set of terms for the concerts’ community benefits would also help you express the two options more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You communicate your meaning using a mix of simple sentences and some longer clauses, for example, “It would be great if you invest in the children's cricket team because…” However, there are some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and agreement. “As you know that cricket…” has an unnecessary “that,” while “if your company spend” needs a verb form that agrees with the subject. In “there was not a single concert that took placed,” the relative clause and past-tense construction are faulty. The sentence “People of this society will be very happy if your company would pay…” also combines verb forms awkwardly. Practise conditional structures and check subject–verb agreement and clause formation; these corrections would make your otherwise understandable message more controlled.
