Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I just came across a campain ongoing by your company in order to gather general public feedback on weather sponsoring a local children's sports team for 2 years or pay for two open air concerts. I am very happy to know that a large campany like yours wants to contribute to the society and I strongly belive that local children's sports team would be a great idea.
Local teams have a lot of potential to reach wider group of audience. I am personally a sports teacher and I have seen a many local teams who have a great potential. We know that the sports market is way bigger then concerts also though local team not only your campany will have word-of-mouth advertisement but alsoit will leave a positive impression as well.
Not to forget concerts are very popular among young generations where it will target a large amount of specific audience at once along with a short term gains in brand presence. Also hosting this events will help company earn some money though tickets and billboards as well.
Your faithfully

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You give a clear preference for sponsoring the children’s team and include relevant points about its potential audience and positive effect on the company’s image. You also mention that concerts can attract young people and increase brand visibility. However, the task is only partly addressed: the benefits of sponsorship are not fully explained, and the concert discussion is brief and includes an unclear claim about earning money. Your recommendation is present but would be stronger if stated more directly at the end and supported by a comparison of the two options. Develop each benefit with a specific explanation, then make the final choice unmistakable.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic paragraph structure: an introduction, a paragraph about the sports team, and one about concerts. This helps the reader identify the two options, and phrases such as “Not to forget” signal a shift in topic. However, the ideas do not progress fully to a concluding recommendation, so the letter feels unfinished. Some connections are difficult to follow, particularly the sentence beginning “We know that the sports market…” where several points are joined together. Use clearer links between each benefit and its effect, and add a brief final paragraph that summarises your choice. A conventional closing would also make the letter feel complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sponsor,” “word-of-mouth advertisement,” “brand presence,” and “target a large amount of specific audience.” These attempts show a useful range beyond very basic language. However, several spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, such as “campain,” “belive,” and “wider group of audience.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “short term gains in brand presence” and “earn some money though tickets.” Aim for accurate spelling and more natural collocations, especially when describing promotional benefits. The meaning is generally recoverable, but more precise phrasing would make your points clearer and more professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, for example the sentence beginning “Not to forget concerts are very popular…” and the contrast in “not only… but also…”. However, complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. In “I have seen a many local teams,” the article pattern is incorrect, while “though local team not only your campany will have…” lacks a clear grammatical structure. There are also problems with agreement and sentence construction in “hosting this events will help company earn.” These errors sometimes make the reader work to understand the intended meaning. Build complex sentences around one clear main clause, and check articles, plurals, and verb patterns.
