Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to give feedback regarding the options of spending money either on children's sports of concert. Although both aspects have their own positive features but i would suggest to spend it on physical activity.
Physical activities have significant role in well-being of children. It does not only make children physical healthy, but it also enhance social and collaborative skills while playing in a team. Moreover, it helps youngster to know about the importance of games. Therefore it is worth to spend money on such activities.
On the other hand, there is no doubt it has been a while that our community not get together due to busy schedule. while spending money on arranging a concert will give an opportunity to spend time together and have some entertainment.
I would suggest that company should spend money on sponsoring sports team. it would help our youth in various aspects.
Thank you for asking feedback.
yours sincerely,
Faiza.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points and make your recommendation clear: you favour sponsoring the children’s sports team. The benefits you give—children’s physical well-being and the development of social and collaborative skills—are relevant, and you also explain that concerts could bring the community together for entertainment. However, the sports-team benefits receive more explanation than the concert benefits, which are summarised in only one sentence. The recommendation is repeated but could be supported with a more direct comparison, such as explaining why lasting benefits for children outweigh the concerts’ short-term community value. This would make the ideas more fully developed while retaining your clear position.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall sequence: an opening that states its purpose and position, a paragraph on sport, a contrastive paragraph on concerts, and a concluding recommendation. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “Therefore,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the main progression. This organisation is effective, though some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, “Although both aspects have their own positive features but” combines two contrasting structures, and the final recommendation largely repeats the opening rather than drawing the comparison together. Paragraphing is appropriate; to strengthen progression further, use cleaner transitions and make the conclusion show how the two options compare.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “well-being,” “collaborative skills,” “sponsoring,” and “entertainment,” so the main ideas are communicated. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “physical activity” and “spend time together.” However, some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “children’s sports of concert,” “physical healthy,” and “know about the importance of games.” These reduce naturalness and precision, even though the intended meaning is generally understandable. Aim for standard combinations such as “children’s sports team,” “physically healthy,” and “understand the value of sport.” More precise vocabulary for the company’s community role would also help you express the benefits more flexibly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including contrast and cause-and-effect structures, as in “Although both aspects…” and “Therefore it is worth…”. The overall meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, and verb forms. For example, “Although … but” uses two contrasting markers together; “It does not only make children physical healthy” has an incorrect adverb form and an awkward auxiliary pattern; and “our community not get together” needs a correctly formed verb phrase. Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, particularly the lowercase “i,” “while,” and “it” after sentence breaks. Review these patterns and proofread sentence boundaries to improve accuracy.
