Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to give my feedback on the decision of spending money either on sponsoring sports team or for two open-air concerts.
It would be a great opportunity for the sports team to get this sponsorship to buy new equipments and hire new coaches for advanced training. As currently, team is struggling to arrange funds for their basic needs such as jursies, equipments and knowledge of advanced techniques.
However, paying for the concerts has also benefits such as local people will get the chance to meet their favourite singers and actors. This concerts will help them to enjoy the events free of cost which will get chance to those families who rarely been to these concerts due to high ticket prices.
In my opinion, the best decision to allocate these funds would be spend on sport team as they are the future of the country and if they get the funds they can improve their skills and can brighten the name of the country.
I hope company finds my suggestion helpfull.
Yours faithfully,
Raj.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points and maintain a clear recommendation: the company should support the sports team. The benefits are relevant and specific, including funding for equipment and coaching, while the concerts would give local people access to performers and free events. Your explanation that this could help families who cannot afford tickets adds useful support. The sports-team argument is also extended through the idea that young players could improve their skills and represent the country. To make the response more fully developed, explain more directly how the sponsorship would benefit the wider community, and avoid broad claims such as the team being “the future of the country” without further support. The purpose and formal letter format are clear.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall progression: you introduce the purpose, discuss the sports sponsorship, consider the concerts, and then give your recommendation. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “However” and “In my opinion” make the relationship between ideas easy to follow. The closing is also appropriate for a formal letter. Some connections are less smooth, however. The opening sentence is awkwardly constructed, and the sentence beginning “As currently” is a fragment rather than a complete continuation of the previous point. The concerts paragraph also moves quickly from meeting performers to free access without a clear link between those benefits. Use complete sentences and clearer transitions to make the progression more consistently fluent.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sponsorship,” “advanced training,” “allocate these funds,” and “ticket prices,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts to express more specific benefits rather than relying only on general statements. However, the range and control are uneven, with several noticeable spelling and word-choice or collocation problems. Examples include “new equipments,” “jursies,” “This concerts,” and “helpfull”; these reduce the polish of the letter. Some phrases are also unnatural, such as “knowledge of advanced techniques” and “brighten the name of the country.” Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing natural combinations such as “sports equipment,” “team uniforms,” and “bring recognition to the country.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if they get the funds they can improve their skills,” and the main message remains understandable. However, control is inconsistent, and several errors occur in sentence construction, agreement, articles, and verb patterns. “As currently, team is struggling” is an incomplete sentence and needs a subject and article, while “This concerts” has incorrect demonstrative agreement. The phrase “would be spend on sport team” also has an incorrect verb form and missing article. In “families who rarely been to these concerts,” the verb phrase is incomplete. Practise forming complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and verb forms; this will make your ideas clearer and more reliable.
