Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear sir or madam,

I am writing a letter to express my opinion how your company should spend it's money either to sponsor a local children's sports team for tow years by paying two open air concert.

Firstly, Sponsoring a children's sports team would bring several benefits to the local community. It is encourage children's to participate in physical activities improve there health develops teamwork and discipline. Moreover, support to purchase team sports equipment and receive better training. This would give young people more opportunities to develop skills and experience..

On the other hand, two open air concert would also help be beneficial .Such events are provide entertainment for local residents and allow people to enjoy music together. In addition, concert are attract visitors nearby areas and support local businesses. such as shops and restaurants.

In my opinion your company spend money on sponsoring the children's sports team. I believe would support children's and develop there physical activities.

Thank you for my considerating my suggestion. I hope you will make decisions that benefits local community.

Yours faithfully,

A local resident.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you explain that team sponsorship could promote children’s health, teamwork and discipline, mention that concerts provide entertainment and attract visitors, and clearly recommend sponsoring the team. The ideas are relevant, but some are less fully developed than others. The sports-team benefits are more detailed, while the concert benefits are listed briefly without explaining how local businesses might benefit. Your recommendation is clear, though its supporting reason largely repeats the earlier point about children’s physical activity. To strengthen the response, add a specific explanation of the community impact of each option and give a fuller reason for your final choice. The response contains 10 words copied from the task prompt; these were not counted in the stated length check.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: an opening states its purpose, separate paragraphs discuss the two options, and a final paragraph gives your recommendation. Linking expressions such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In my opinion” help readers follow the progression. However, some connections are mechanical, and punctuation or spacing sometimes interrupts the flow, as in “Moreover, support” and “beneficial .Such events.” The final paragraph also repeats the earlier point about supporting children without developing the reasoning further. Use transitions more naturally, ensure each paragraph’s sentences connect clearly, and check punctuation and spacing to make the organisation smoother.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “sponsor,” “teamwork,” “discipline,” “entertainment,” and “local residents.” This gives you enough language to communicate the main ideas. However, several word-choice and collocation problems make parts of the letter awkward, such as “support to purchase team sports equipment,” “help be beneficial,” and “Thank you for my considerating my suggestion.” There are also spelling errors, including “tow” and “there” where “their” is intended. Aim for more natural phrases and check spelling carefully; for example, describe the company as “funding equipment and training” and say “Thank you for considering my suggestion.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more developed sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “It is encourage children's” should be “It would encourage children,” while “two open air concert would” needs a plural noun and matching verb form. The sentence beginning “Moreover, support to purchase…” is incomplete, and “I believe would support…” is missing a clear subject. These errors sometimes make the reader pause, even though the intended meaning can usually be recovered. Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and punctuation before submitting.
