Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5
The response makes an attempt to discuss the company’s sponsorship decision and offers a recommendation about how money might be used, but it does not clearly address all three required points. The benefits of sponsoring a children’s sports team are not explained, while the comments about concerts are difficult to interpret—for example, “develop and dying hunger for sports” does not clearly state a concert benefit. The final suggestion about including team representatives in an organising group is also incomplete and does not clearly say whether the company should choose the team or the concerts. To improve, address each bullet point directly, explain at least one practical benefit for each option, and state your preferred choice clearly with a supporting reason.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
There is some attempt to organise the letter: the opening introduces the writer, a paragraph discusses the proposal, and a later paragraph begins to offer a suggestion. However, the progression is difficult to follow because ideas shift between sponsorship, concerts, and event organisation without clear links. The numbered point at the end is unfinished, and connectors such as “Secondly” do not clearly connect the ideas that precede and follow it. Paragraphing and basic sequencing provide a starting structure, but the reader cannot easily identify the writer’s overall recommendation. Use separate paragraphs for the sports-team benefits, concert benefits, and final recommendation, and connect each point with clear, accurate transitions.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response attempts some topic-related vocabulary, including “sponsor,” “visibility,” “recognition,” “organising group,” and “financial,” showing an effort to discuss publicity and event planning. However, spelling errors and inaccurate or unclear word choices frequently make the message hard to understand. Examples include “initieting,” “surgestion,” “recorgnition,” and “dying hunger,” which appears not to express the intended idea. Some phrases, such as “benefits concert,” are also not formed naturally. Build accuracy by checking spelling and choosing familiar, precise expressions before attempting less common vocabulary. Clear phrases such as “raise the company’s profile” and “encourage children to take part in sport” would communicate the intended benefits more effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The letter includes attempts at longer sentences and clauses, such as “I want to encourage you for such move because is going to help…,” but grammatical control is inconsistent. Missing subjects and articles, as in “because is going to help,” and faulty verb forms, as in “it going to help,” make several sentences difficult to follow. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also unreliable: the opening runs into a long, unclear sentence, and the final point ends mid-thought. There is some evidence of sentence variety, but accurate simple sentences are not yet consistent. Practise complete subject–verb structures, for example, “This will help the company gain recognition,” and use full stops to separate distinct ideas.
