Student answer (Band 6.0)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you about the investment of some amount of money, either to give charity to a local children's sports team for two years, or to spend for two open-air concerts. For this, I would like to give some feeback.

I would like to share some benefits of sponsoring the athelete team of children. Adding to this, pupils will develop their competitive skills and help them to have a chance to showcase their talent. This also provide the particular area's people to push their children to play sports.

However, the advantages of paying for the musical event are also helpful for adults to use their lesiure time in attending these concerts. Moreover, adults who waste their time in social media, can rather go to these events to spend time with their friends or family.

I would like to give a suggest to you that the money should be utilized in the betterment of the children's sport group. This is because young ones will get a chance to showcase their hardwork and passion.

Sincerely,

Rushit Dave

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address all three points: you describe benefits of supporting children’s sport, mention social and leisure benefits of concerts, and clearly recommend funding the sports group. The letter’s purpose is also clear from the opening. The sports-team benefits are relevant, especially developing competitive skills and giving children a chance to display their talent, but they are only briefly explained. The concert section is also somewhat general: it says adults can spend time with friends or family, without explaining wider community benefits. To strengthen the response, develop each point with a specific outcome, such as improved access to coaching or bringing residents together. Your recommendation would be more persuasive if you linked it directly to the benefits already described.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an opening, separate paragraphs for the two funding options, and a final recommendation. This makes the main progression easy to follow, and transitions such as “However” and “Moreover” help signal relationships between ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter. Some linking is less natural or precise, however: “Adding to this” does not connect smoothly to the preceding point, and “For this” in the opening has an unclear reference. The final paragraph repeats the idea of showcasing talent rather than drawing together the earlier reasons. Use more precise transitions and refer clearly to the company’s choice to make the progression more fluent and less repetitive.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a range of task-related vocabulary, including “sponsoring,” “competitive skills,” “showcase their talent,” and “leisure time.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and there are attempts to use more formal language, such as “utilized” and “betterment.” However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, including “give charity to” a team, “spend for” concerts, and “a suggest.” There are also spelling errors in “feeback,” “athelete,” and “lesiure,” which reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and check spelling carefully; precise, conventional phrasing will make the letter sound more fluent and professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and longer structures, including the sentence beginning “This is because,” and the contrast between the two funding options is understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, but the message is generally clear. For example, “This also provide” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “I would like to give a suggest” uses an incorrect noun form and article pattern. In “adults who waste their time in social media, can rather go,” the comma separates the subject from its verb, and the clause structure is awkward. Practise checking agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries, and vary sentence patterns while keeping them controlled. This will improve accuracy without sacrificing the ideas you are expressing.
