Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and state a position in the conclusion: “its advantage outweigh its drawbacks.” The benefits you identify—older people’s experience, guidance for younger generations, and support within families—are relevant, as are the costs of healthcare and social care. However, the discussion is only partly developed. For example, you mention grandparents’ role in “children unbringing” but do not explain how this benefit compares in importance with government costs. The essay also does not consistently explain the extent to which advantages outweigh disadvantages; the final claim that society benefits “when it is used appropriately” is unclear. Develop each main point with a specific explanation or example, and make the comparison central throughout the response.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Moreover,” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the broad direction of the argument. However, some links are mechanical or unclear, and ideas within paragraphs do not always progress smoothly. For instance, “Secondly, cretae pressure on social care” is not connected clearly to the preceding sentence, while the final sentence of the benefits paragraph shifts abruptly to traditional stories and culture. The conclusion’s opening phrase, “after pondering over the great deal of thoughts and deliberations,” also distracts from the summary. Use clearer links between claims and explanations, and organise each paragraph around a focused main idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “life expectancy,” “healthcare expenditure,” “nursing homes,” and “traditional culture,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also attempts to use more formal expressions, such as “valuable life experience” and “financial support.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or forms make meaning less clear, including “brings various society,” “financial challenging,” and “children unbringing.” Spelling errors such as “havving,” “disadvantagea,” and “cretae” are noticeable. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling and word forms carefully; using fewer but more precise expressions will make the argument easier to understand.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including a concession in “Although this development has some disadvantagea, it also offer several advantages.” This shows an effort to vary sentence forms, but control is inconsistent, and errors often make sentences difficult to follow. Examples include subject–verb agreement in “an aging population create” and “it also offer,” missing or misplaced grammatical elements in “Older people more require financial support,” and the incomplete construction “Secondly, cretae pressure on social care.” The conclusion also contains an awkward sentence structure: “Although aging populations create problems for governments has some disadvantages.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation when editing.
