Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position that the advantages of an aging population outweigh the disadvantages. The ideas are relevant, such as the economic contribution of experienced professionals and the social value of longevity. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'brain drain' is a bit vague, and the conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly without a full sentence. While the position is clear throughout, the final paragraph lacks the necessary depth to fully support the essay's stance, which prevents it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a counter-argument section. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'By contrast', which help guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'where ch can be used'. The paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the final sentence is a fragment, which disrupts the overall coherence of the conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task. You demonstrate an ability to use topic-specific terms like 'life expectancy', 'geriatric healthcare', and 'capacity building'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'avaiability', 'dvanced', 'beleive', 'eassy', 'scover', and 'aonger'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and try to incorporate more precise collocations to elevate the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are persistent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, 'skilled man' should be 'skilled individuals', and there are missing articles throughout (e.g., 'increase in aging population'). The final sentence is grammatically incomplete, which is a significant error. Despite these issues, the meaning remains clear, and the errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your points. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences and refining article usage will help improve your score.
