Student answer (Band 5.0)
Now in many countries families are living as a joint either they don’t prefer nuclear families now. They thought both the prions and corns of living together. In my opinion if you are living together you also have many comforts you divide your work load as if you have children’s in your home and a person whose is free they got them to school. They also cook food one by one. Your next generation also know their background what difficulties their elders face. They also teaches them the lessons which they have done in their lives. And they learned lesson from them.
Moreover, some people think their elders are burden form them. Now they are older and don’t earn money. They need more care and affection. The most crucial is they need time because they fell alone and face anxiety.
For government the elders are also problem that they give them free bus pass, they don’t need to stand on long lines as they are senior citizen’s government also gives them free checkups and medication if needed.
In my opinion elders plays an important role in society they already know the basic ethics. They teach their next generation what things are good to make a society.
In conclusion, their are both the proms and corns an elders live together. But now some people live as a joint family rather than a nuclear family. They enjoy their presence. By their presence they fell theirselves secure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to address the specific prompt regarding an 'aging population' and its impact on governments and society. Instead, the essay focuses almost exclusively on the benefits and drawbacks of 'joint families' versus 'nuclear families'. Because the essay misses the core topic of demographic aging, it does not fulfill the requirements of the task. Furthermore, the response is under the 250-word minimum, which negatively impacts the score. The ideas presented are largely irrelevant to the prompt, and the position is not clearly developed in relation to the actual question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak because the content does not follow the prompt. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Moreover' and 'In conclusion', but they are often used mechanically or to connect ideas that are not relevant to the topic. The referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the final paragraph where 'their' and 'they' are used without clear antecedents. The overall structure is disjointed, and the lack of focus on the prompt makes the flow of ideas difficult to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice, such as 'prions and corns' (likely intended as 'pros and cons') and 'fell alone' (intended as 'feel alone'). The student struggles to use precise terminology related to social issues or demographics. Basic errors in spelling and collocation, such as 'fell theirselves' instead of 'feel secure', indicate a restricted range that struggles to convey complex ideas accurately. The vocabulary is generally at a basic level, which is insufficient for an academic task.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('elders plays', 'they teaches'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward sentence structures ('a person whose is free they got them to school'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes in plurals like 'citizen’s' and 'children’s'. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, they are often faulty or poorly constructed. The high frequency of errors across basic and complex structures limits the score significantly.
