Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is true that people are living longer than before. While some people argue that elderly people make more problems for governments, others opine that having old people has its own benefits. This essay will discuss both views and I will share my agreement with later notion in the susequent paragraphs.
Some assert that as people live longer and become older, it creats a lot of costs for governments in terms of healthcare, and dependency. For instance, people who get older, more health issues will happen like heart disease and dementia which governments have to pay for their teatments. In addition, older people are not able to do their jod independentely, therefore they need their children to help them or they should be transfered to nursing homes and governments have to fund for such facilities.Hence, growing ageing population will bring some issues to the societis.
On the other hand, others believe that societies need elderly people due to their experience and help. Foe example, having elderly people in families can be a big help for parents who are very busy with their job. In this contemporary era, most parents work fultime and they need somebody to take care of their children as they are at work. In this way, they can focus on their job, and they can save money as well. Moreover, they belive that most elderly people have enough experience in some fileds such as bussiness and agriculture it can be transfered to their childern. As an example, some boys like to continue their fathers' job, therefore they need to be trained by their fathers.
All in all, although elderly people have some limitations such as health issues and dependency, but I strongly believe that we still need them as a well expericend peolpe in our society. Having them has more benefits for family than losing them

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both the challenges (healthcare costs, dependency) and the benefits (childcare support, knowledge transfer). The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, though the supporting examples could be more specific to reach a higher band. For instance, mentioning a specific country or a broader economic trend would strengthen the argument. The conclusion clearly restates your position, ensuring the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'On the other hand', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor mechanical errors in sentence structure, and some transitions feel slightly repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the relationship between sentences is always explicit. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different viewpoints.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'dependency', and 'nursing homes'. However, there are frequent spelling errors (e.g., 'creats', 'teatments', 'jod', 'societis', 'expericend', 'peolpe') which occasionally distract the reader. While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary, the lack of precision and the recurring spelling mistakes limit the score. Focusing on proofreading for common spelling patterns will significantly improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'While some people argue that... others opine that...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'growing ageing population will bring') and article usage. Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary comma in 'although... but'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing your focus on sentence-level accuracy and proofreading for basic grammar will be beneficial.
