Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the benefits of cultural preservation are mentioned, the explanation relies on vague generalizations, such as 'grandfather everyone had some childhood memories.' The discussion of disadvantages is more concrete, covering labor shortages and medical costs. The conclusion is incomplete, as it cuts off mid-sentence, which prevents a full summary of the argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is supported by more specific, logical examples and that the conclusion fully restates the position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore,' 'Additionally,' and 'In conclusion,' though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'Benefits are coming with problems.' Paragraphing is present, but the final paragraph is incomplete, which disrupts the overall flow. Referencing is generally clear, but the lack of a finished conclusion impacts the overall coherence of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors, such as 'eepectancy,' 'citiizens,' 'decendors,' and 'chilhood,' which occasionally distract the reader. The range of vocabulary is limited to common terms, and there is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and proofreading for spelling accuracy. For example, instead of 'elder generation,' use 'the elderly' or 'senior citizens.'

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('life expectancy is increased,' 'aging population create issues'), missing articles ('the' aging population), and awkward phrasing ('old population being the reason of several challenges'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence construction and basic grammatical rules, such as article usage and verb tense consistency, will significantly improve the quality of your writing.
