Student answer (Band 5.0)

It is undenible that different people have different opinions. In this regards, most of the countries, people are living longer than ever before. It is believed by some people that ageing population creates problems for governments, whereas there are benefits if society has more elderly people. This essay will not outline only benefits but drawbacks also in forthcoming paragraphs with logical conclusion. According to me, disadvantages are far more than advantages.

To commence with , there are many reasons due to which governments face difficulties from older people. The first and foremost is if ageing population is more, government should give more money to older people. To clarify it more, In india, government give pension to older people for their survival. Furthermore, there is burden on government to take care off ageing population. Government pay money for their medicines, clothes and other essential things.

Moving on benefits side, if older peole are living at home , so there is less worries to their children of home and other important things because they take care off houses. Older people also gine right decision for work because they had a lot of knowledge and experience in their life. They also do household work and enjoy with their children.

In conclusion, although there are some benefits of older people such as take care off houses and children. According to me, drawsbacks cannot be overlooked.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the advantages and disadvantages of an aging population, and states a clear position that the disadvantages outweigh the benefits. However, the ideas are relatively undeveloped and lack sufficient supporting evidence. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the response contains only 231 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This under-length directly impacts task fulfillment, as the arguments cannot be fully explored. For instance, the discussion of economic burdens in India with pensions and medical costs is simplistic and brief. Consequently, this falls under Band 5, where the task is addressed only partially and ideas remain limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays some organizational structure with distinct paragraph breaks for the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, attempting a transition from drawbacks to benefits. However, the overall progression is hampered by weak and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'To commence with', 'To clarify it more', and 'Moving on benefits side'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed. Paragraphing is used, but the individual paragraphs are very brief and lack internal cohesion. This aligns with Band 5, which features some organization but noticeable flaws in logical progression and repetitive or inadequate use of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with several awkward collocations and word choices. Examples include 'ageing population creates problems', 'give pension', 'take care off' (repeated twice), and 'gine right decision'. While the student attempts some less common vocabulary such as 'undenible' (misspelled) and 'drawsbacks', the range remains limited and minimally adequate for the task. Errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'peole' and 'daresbacks', occur throughout. This performance fits Band 5, characterized by a limited vocabulary range and noticeable errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage, such as 'most of the countries, people are living', 'if ageing population is more', and 'government give'. Punctuation and preposition errors are also present, as seen in 'according to me' and 'take care off'. Although meaning is generally preserved despite these flaws, the high frequency of grammatical inaccuracies pulls the score down. This sits securely at Band 5, where a limited range of structures is used and frequent errors persist.
