Student answer (Band 6.5)
In several countries, individuals have longer life spans than before. Some think that this pattern will cause problems for states, whereas, some people find it beneficial for a society if it has more old people. I agree with the later part as elderly people can use their experiences to solve the societal problems and also governments budget on teaching young citizens would also be minimized if it has elderly people.
Many people think that wisdom belongs to old age. Old people have more knowledge, experience and practical skills to tackle societal problems. Not only this, they also have experimented trial and error techniques in different walks of life. Therefore, they get rigid expertise on problem solving. Perhaps that is the reason why most states officials are of an old age. This is because they are mature and can manage the large number of people with patience, critical thinking and wisdom. For instance, many constitutions of different countries such as Pakistan have made the age limit of their prime minister mandatory that is; above sixty. Thus older people can make the society a better place because they have done a lot of experimentations in their youth.
Another reason to this is that governments spend a huge amount of money on educating the young individuals to make the better person for the society. States can pragmatically save this expense and utilize it to solve current problems if there more older people in the society. Elderly population will not need much educational investments because most of them would have learnt how to behave well in the society as compared to youngsters or infants. For example, elderly people are most likely to be more aware of traffic rules and road circumstances as compared to the young individuals. This will not only reduce the number of casualities but also minize the educational budget.
Critics rightly qoute that aging might make society monotonous. When there are more older people in the society, there will be no space for creatvity and newness. This will make society colorless and obscelete.
To conclude, despite some critical points, I believe aging is more advantageous for the society as older people are more knowledgeable and experienced than the young people. When there are more old people in the society, ultimately, the social problems would be minimized and society will keep on growing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, leaning towards the advantages. The writer supports ideas with explanations and examples, such as mentioning the age limit for prime ministers in Pakistan and discussing government expenditure on education versus law-abiding behavior. However, some ideas are slightly over-generalized or underdeveloped, such as the assumption that older populations do not require educational investments or that society would otherwise lack creativity completely. Overall, the task is well-addressed, meeting the criteria for Band 6.5 or 7.0, and is best placed at Band 7.0 for addressing all parts with a clear stance and extended ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a discernible central topic, moving from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing wisdom, economic benefits, and a counterargument before a clear conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Therefore', 'Perhaps that is the reason why', 'Another reason to this is', and 'To conclude'. However, some minor awkwardness in referencing exists, such as 'Another reason to this is that' instead of 'Another reason for this is that'. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, resulting in a cohesive structure that fits a Band 7.0 descriptor well.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student uses a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, incorporating terms like 'pragmatically', 'experimentations', 'casualities' (spelling error), and 'obscelete' (spelling error). There are occasional spelling errors and slight word-form or collocation inaccuracies ('later part' instead of 'latter part', 'governments budget on' instead of 'governments' budgets for', 'qoute' instead of 'quote', 'creatvity' instead of 'creativity'). Despite these lexical errors, the range is adequate for the task and demonstrates an attempt to use less common vocabulary, fitting the Band 6.0 profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses, conditionals, and noun clauses (e.g., 'Not only this, they also have experimented trial and error techniques...'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'whereas, some people find it beneficial', 'if it has elderly people' (ambiguous pronoun reference), 'states officials' instead of 'state officials', and 'made the age limit of their prime minister mandatory that is; above sixty'. These errors in punctuation and grammar are noticeable but rarely impede communication, aligning with the Band 6.0 descriptor.
