Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both the potential problems and benefits of an aging population and clearly states a position in the introduction ("In my perspective aging population provides more advantages than disadvantages"). The main ideas are generally relevant, such as the economic burden mentioned in paragraph two and the cultural and emotional benefits discussed in paragraphs three and four. However, some arguments lack full extension and suffer from generalisations. For instance, the discussion on emotional development and grandparents could be supported with more developed analytical reasoning rather than repetition. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, placing this response at a solid Band 6.0 according to the descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently to separate distinct points of view. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic transition phrases like "On the other hand" and "In conclusion," and there are minor structural lapses, such as the awkward opening phrase "Looking at the both sides." Referencing is mostly clear, but the logical progression within paragraphs can feel slightly repetitive due to restating similar points about experience and culture without advancing the argument smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts a range of vocabulary appropriate to the prompt, including terms like "hurdles," "consumption," "materal worth," and "pillers." However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, such as "researches" (research is uncountable), "life spain" (span), "comunity" (community), "beleive" (believe), "chunck" (chunk), "Consequantly" (Consequently), "materal" (material), "help's" (helps), "olderly" (elderly), "Simulteniously" (Simultaneously), "pillers" (pillars), and "comperision" (comparison). These lexical errors and awkward collocations show an adequate range for the task but indicate frequent spelling slips, which limits the score to a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over clause structures (e.g., "Some people are of opinion that elderly population creates hurdles..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in subject-verb agreement and article usage throughout the text. Examples include "Recent researches demonstrates" (research demonstrates), "the average life spain... have increased" (has increased), "elderly population creates" (an elderly population creates), and "children that are brought up... share a more happier" (a happier). Additionally, punctuation errors occur, such as unnecessary apostrophes in "help's." These errors occasionally distract the reader, aligning the grammar with Band 5.5 descriptors.
