Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding the aging population, but it confuses the core concepts of an aging society with general population growth and rapid population increase. Instead of focusing on the benefits and drawbacks of elderly populations, the second and third body paragraphs discuss young people, food resources, and general unemployment caused by rapid population growth. Furthermore, the response is 247 words, narrowly failing the 250-word minimum length requirement, which incurs a penalty. The position is unclear and drifts away from the specific focus of the task. Because the ideas are underdeveloped and conflate different demographic issues, the performance aligns with Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall organization and logical progression are weak. The introduction immediately confuses aging populations with general population growth. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as 'while,on other hand there are to many old people living in the world' and 'One of them and important one is food resources'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the grouping of ideas lacks clear thematic consistency, as paragraphs mix thoughts on young people with issues of resource scarcity. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow the writer's line of thought. These issues place the response firmly in the Band 5 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and repetitious, demonstrating basic and sometimes inadequate control. There are numerous word choice and spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'todays', 'feilds', 'effevtive', 'repid', 'struglling', and 'civillians'. The student attempts less common vocabulary like 'reliability', 'dedication', and 'unemployment', but these are often used inaccurately or alongside significant spelling errors. The range is minimally adequate for conveying very basic thoughts, but the lexical inaccuracies occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. This performance reflects the descriptors for Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mostly of simple and attempted complex sentences that are frequently faulty. There are persistent punctuation and capitalization errors, such as missing spaces after commas and periods ('Currently, the', 'world.Most'). Subject-verb agreement and word formation issues are common, as seen in 'people live average life age is longer', 'did not have enough resources to tackle them', and 'countries needs to prepared them'. Frequent grammatical errors and poor control over complex forms cause considerable difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a Band 6.
