Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is severely under-length, containing only 144 words compared to the minimum requirement of 250 words. This results in a heavy penalty for Task Achievement, as the prompt is only partially addressed and the arguments cannot be fully developed. The student attempts to introduce a position on the aging population, stating that older people bring valuable experience and help maintain harmony. However, the essay is incomplete, trailing off mid-sentence at the end. Because the ideas are underdeveloped and the word count falls far short of the task instructions, the response cannot be awarded a score higher than Band 4.0 for this criterion.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay lacks proper paragraphing, presented instead as a poorly structured block of text that breaks off abruptly. While there are some basic attempts at linking ideas, such as 'Regarding this' and 'Aditionally', the overall organization is compromised by the incomplete nature of the writing and poor sentence flow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, as seen in phrases like 'the one who have explored'. Due to the lack of a conclusion, insufficient paragraphing, and fragmented cohesion, the text aligns best with Band 4.0 descriptors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive. The student attempts some less common phrases like 'amalgamation of different age group' and 'peace and harmony', but these are accompanied by frequent word choice and spelling errors, such as 'nowdays' instead of 'nowadays', 'ower_self' instead of 'ourselves', and 'thimgs' instead of 'things'. Vocabulary is also sometimes used imprecisely, as in 'the more face different challenges'. Overall, the lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for communication, fitting the Band 5.0 profile.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatical control is weak throughout the response. There are frequent errors in basic sentence structures, subject-verb agreement, and word forms, such as 'different people has different opinions', 'some think have elder people around', and 'each with there own life experience'. Complex structures are attempted, such as conditional or relative clauses, but they are frequently faulty (e.g., 'we can't learn by just watching it'). Punctuation is also problematic, and the text ends mid-sentence. These persistent errors that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader place the writing firmly in Band 4.0.
