Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, residents lifespan are now longer than ever before. Some people are saying that older population will be burden for the policy makers. In contrast some individual thought it will beneficial for socity having elderly people. Although this trend has certain drawbacks, I belive that its benefits aging residents problem for government and the society having older people.

The main disadvantage of being a problemtic for goverment is it is really hard to provide and manage the financial facilities. People who are living in the oldage homes no one is taking care after so the government have to take step and provide all the essentials. It will also have a bad impact on the economy of country because the government have to take care of their employees and all other citizens. In addition, when they are in their last stage of life so they can't even contact to someone, leading to that the government have to monitor them everytime.

Nevertheless, the advantages are substantial. For the society having the elderly people, can get sometime faster solution for a problem from experienced person. For example, recently I got a problem in my farms related to the seeds. The older person in our society give me the solution. Another main advantage is getting a life suggestion from them during handling the problems which often results in positive outcome. There are also other wider benefits for the society.

In conclusion, while having elder persons can create a problems for government like managing and providing the necessary resources, these problems can largely be managed through voluntarily community. Given the clear gains in getting solutions faster and suggestions. I am convinced that the advantages of this development outweigh its disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and state a clear view: “I am convinced that the advantages of this development outweigh its disadvantages.” The discussion of government costs and the value of older people’s experience is relevant, and the farming example gives one benefit a concrete illustration. However, some points are less fully developed than others. The disadvantage paragraph moves from care costs to older people being unable to contact someone, without clearly explaining how common this is or how it adds to the government’s burden. The benefits paragraph also makes broad claims about faster solutions and life advice, while “other wider benefits” is not specified. Develop these points with clearer explanations and examples to make the comparison more convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for disadvantages and advantages, and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “In contrast,” “In addition,” and “Nevertheless” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, some connections are unclear or mechanical. For example, “It will also have a bad impact on the economy” does not clearly identify what “it” refers to, and the sentence about older people being unable to contact someone does not connect smoothly to the preceding point about care facilities. The conclusion’s sentence beginning “Given the clear gains” is incomplete, which weakens the final progression. Use clearer referencing and connect each supporting point explicitly to the main argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “aging population,” “financial facilities,” “economy,” “experienced person,” and “positive outcome.” These choices show an attempt to discuss both public costs and social benefits. However, word choice, spelling, and collocation errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. Examples include “residents lifespan,” “problemtic,” “socity,” and “belive”; “financial facilities” is also not a natural way to describe public support or care services. Phrases such as “faster solution for a problem” and “life suggestion” are understandable but imprecise. Build a more reliable range of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and natural word combinations before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mixture of simple and more complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although this trend has certain drawbacks” and a contrast introduced by “while” in the conclusion. Some sentences communicate their main point, but grammatical errors recur and occasionally make relationships between ideas unclear. For instance, “older population will be burden” is missing an article, while “the government have to take step” has agreement and singular/plural problems. The opening sentence also has an unclear subject–verb construction, and “For the society having the elderly people, can get…” lacks a complete grammatical structure. Practise accurate articles, subject–verb agreement, and complete clauses, then proofread longer sentences for clear sentence boundaries.
