Student answer (Band 5.5)

In era of moderanization, due to continuous improvements in field of medical and health people are living longer as compared to the past. Many people beleive that govermants are facing issues to manage a huge population while, other believe that it is very beneficial for societal improvement.I think adavantages of having elder population are more then drawbacks.

Initially, elder person serves as role of leader and wiseman in family. He can share his life experience with his children by giving them precious advice for any kind of situation. In addition, they can also the best emotional supportives for next generation. For instance, sometimes a person feel discouarge but the piece of advice of elder person can work as relaxant.

Secondly, nowadays ebvery human have busy schedule and they are not able to give appropriate time to family and children. Elder person can spend time with children and can also look after them.Furthermore, grandparents usually play role as best role models for younger generation. They can learn them about ethics and manners. So, people are usually not worried mostly about children becuase of grandparents. Morever, they can also look after the valuable things at home in the absence of family members.

There are some drawbacks for having elder population because it can be very challenging to manage aging community. Elder people are more suspectible to any kind of epidemic disease. Besides that, for governments it is very hectic to arange resources according to the needs of elder population. However, after reaching at rotational age they are not giving any kind econmic benefit to society nor harm it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you believe the advantages of an aging population outweigh the disadvantages. You address both sides, giving relevant benefits such as grandparents supporting children and passing on experience, and noting pressure on governments to provide resources and older people’s vulnerability to disease. These points meet the task, but some are not fully explained. For example, the claim that older people provide emotional support is illustrated briefly, while the final point that they provide neither economic benefit nor harm is unclear and sits uneasily beside the earlier discussion of their contributions. To strengthen the response, explain the scale of the government costs and compare them directly with the social benefits, using a more precise example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two paragraphs developing benefits, and a paragraph on disadvantages. Sequencing phrases such as “Initially,” “Secondly,” and “However” help readers follow the argument, and the main position is easy to identify. This meets the lower-band expectation for coherent organisation and shows some of the clearer progression associated with a stronger performance. However, links can feel mechanical, and some connections between ideas are abrupt. For instance, the shift from grandparents’ role models to looking after valuables is not explained, while the final sentence does not clearly connect to the comparison of advantages and disadvantages. Use transitions that show the relationship between points and make each paragraph’s central idea more consistent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “life experience,” “emotional support,” “epidemic disease,” and “resources,” so the reader can understand the main ideas. There are also attempts at less common expressions, such as “societal improvement” and “role models.” However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to interpret: “emotional supportives,” “work as relaxant,” and “reaching at rotational age” are not natural or clear in context. Spelling errors such as “govermants,” “suspectible,” and “econmic” are also noticeable. Build a reliable set of topic-specific phrases and check spelling and collocations; precise, natural wording will make your argument more convincing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because it can be very challenging to manage aging community” and a contrast introduced by “However.” The overall meaning is usually recoverable, but errors in sentence structure and grammar occur across the response. Examples include “In era of modernisation” (missing article), “Many people believe … while, other believe” (agreement and punctuation), and “they can also the best emotional supportives” (missing verb). There are also problems with verb forms and sentence construction, as in “They can learn them about ethics” and “they are not giving any kind economic benefit.” Work on articles, subject–verb agreement, complete verb phrases, and punctuation. Editing each sentence for a clear subject and verb would improve accuracy.
