Student answer (Band 6.0)
Individuals are having longer lifespan than before in several countries. According to some people, Managing a huge older population is difficult for governments whereas others believe that it is beneficial for the society to have more elderly people. I think there are more advantages than disadvantages to have more old age people in a country.
On the one hand, elderly people have more experience in every aspect of life than the younger ones; thereby a simple life story of an old person can inspire the youths. Busy schedule, fast pace lifestyle, development of technology are some of the reasons behind this generations lack of social involvement, in which elderly generation are very cautious. Additionally, human bondings, interpersonal relationships have a very vital role in their lives. For example, whenever I get confused to make any important decision of my life, I take advice from my grandfather because he has more knowledge and experience. And another quality of him that I admire is that the way he tries to keep the family bond intact. Therefore, having more elderly people has a profound impact in the whole community.
On the other hand, providing the elder people with their basic necessities can become an liability to the government. There are several issues such as: elderly people are weak, they have several health issues and they constantly need someone to look after them, ensuring these services requires a lot of efforts; thereby authorities might struggle to manage these. Old age home can be solution to this. However, if the number of older people increases, it might be a tedious task to combat. Furthermore, younger generation nowadays are less responsible towards their elderly relatives. Despite it's being their responsibility, they do not bother to care for them. This is another reason which adding more reponsibilty upon the government to handle elderly people.
In conclusion, I think the advantages of having an aging population outweigh the disadvantages as they can help to keep the younger generation inspired and teach them good values of bonding. Although it ia pressure for the government to provide them properly, I think if everybody in the society come togather it will be manageable.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear: you believe the benefits of an aging population outweigh the costs, and you address both sides of the question. The discussion of older people sharing experience and strengthening family bonds is relevant, with your grandfather as a personal example. You also identify pressure on government services and the possibility that relatives may not provide care. However, the advantages are developed more fully than the disadvantages, and the link between elderly people’s social involvement and benefits to society could be explained more precisely. The claim that an old-age home is a solution is introduced but not evaluated. To strengthen the response, explain how the benefits compare in scale with the costs and support each main point with a clearer example or consequence.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a conclusion that restates your view. The contrastive opening phrases “On the one hand” and “On the other hand” help readers follow the argument, and examples are placed within the relevant paragraph. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For instance, “And another quality of him” begins a sentence with a link that does not fit smoothly, while “thereby” is used repeatedly where a clearer cause-and-effect connection would help. The sentence beginning “There are several issues such as” also combines several points without clear separation. Use more precise referencing and vary transitions, while ensuring each paragraph develops one main idea in a logical sequence.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a reasonable range of topic-related vocabulary, including “interpersonal relationships,” “basic necessities,” “social involvement,” and “profound impact.” These choices help communicate your main ideas, and the meaning is generally clear. However, several word choices and collocations are unnatural or inaccurate, such as “having longer lifespan,” “an liability,” “human bondings,” and “combat” for dealing with the challenges of an aging population. There are also spelling and word-form errors, including “reponsibilty” and “togather.” These issues limit precision and make some phrases sound less natural. Aim to learn vocabulary in common combinations, check spelling carefully, and choose direct expressions when a more ambitious word does not fit the context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including clauses with “whereas,” “whenever,” and “although,” and most of the argument remains understandable. Some sentences are controlled, such as “I take advice from my grandfather because he has more knowledge and experience.” However, there are recurring grammatical errors. Examples include “Individuals are having longer lifespan,” “this generations lack,” and “if everybody in the society come together,” which show problems with articles, possessives, and subject–verb agreement. The sentence “This is another reason which adding more responsibility” also has an incomplete verb structure. Improve accuracy by checking agreement and verb forms, and revise long sentences into clearer units. More consistently accurate complex sentences would make the argument easier to follow.
