Student answer (Band 6.0)
In this modern era, older people play vital role in society. Numerous people argue that older people create obstacles for governments. On the other hand, some people believe that having more senior citizen is beneficial for society. However, while it useful for the young generation, it also has a number of drawbacks.
The most significant benefits of having more senior citizen is helpful for the young generation. The Older people have more experience than other age group people. Therefore, they guide young people toward achieving their goals. For example, my grandparents always tell me stories about their struggle, and I always listen that story very carefully. As a result, i learn many things from their experience because i believe that this experience will be very useful for my future. Another positive is older people support families. In India older people is play vital role in family. For instance, In modern era, both father and mother do a job, but grandparents take care of their grandchildren. As a result, parents can more focus on their work, and they don't need to spend extra money for childcare.
However, despite the above benefits, there are also certain disadvantages of having more senior citizens is healthcare expenditure. Older people need regular medical checkup and expensive treatment. For example, In rural are there are limited government hospitals and healthcare equipment for older people. As a result, government should spent more money on healthcare in rural area. Therefore, government can not save public fund for other important sector such as education, infrastructure and transportation.
To conclude, although senior citizen can creates problems for governments, they play essential role for young individuals as well as for family. Therefore, I believe having the older people is have more benefits compare to drawbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both sides of the question and state a clear overall view: older people offer benefits to young people and families, while healthcare costs are a disadvantage. The examples about grandparents sharing experience and caring for grandchildren make these benefits relevant and personal. However, the response does not fully answer the key question of whether the advantages outweigh the disadvantages: the conclusion says there are “more benefits,” but the comparison is asserted rather than explained. The healthcare point is also less developed than the benefits, and the link between limited rural facilities and higher government spending could be clarified. Explain the scale of each effect and why the social contributions outweigh, or do not outweigh, the public costs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and disadvantages, and a conclusion. Ideas generally progress logically, and linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “For example,” and “As a result” help show relationships between claims and examples. This gives the essay a coherent arrangement. At times, however, these connectors are repeated mechanically, and some references are unclear—for example, “I always listen that story” does not clearly connect the singular story to the earlier plural “stories.” The introduction also signals a contrast without clearly stating the final position until the conclusion. To strengthen progression, vary linking methods and make each paragraph’s main claim and its connection to the overall comparison explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “experience,” “healthcare expenditure,” “childcare,” and “infrastructure.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “play vital role” and “public fund.” However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or repetitive: “more senior citizen” recurs, “older people is play” is not a natural expression, and “government should spent more money” uses an unsuitable form. Some phrases, such as “other age group people” and “modern era,” are awkward or imprecise. These choices do not prevent the reader from understanding the argument, but they limit precision and naturalness. Build a wider set of accurate phrases for discussing older people, public spending, and social contributions, and check word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “while,” “because,” and “although,” and most of the argument remains understandable. However, some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction recur. Examples include “The most significant benefits … is,” “older people is play,” “government should spent,” and “senior citizen can creates.” The opening phrase “while it useful” is also missing a verb, while “having the older people is have” makes the conclusion difficult to read smoothly. These errors show that complex structures are being attempted but are not yet consistently controlled. Practise checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly formed verb, then review articles and singular/plural agreement.
