Student answer (Band 5.0)

Having more elderly people carries less advantages then disadvantages because it creates more difficulties for the country in particular ways like it effect on its economy , weather , population and employments. While on the other hand it have significance too like advicing , experience , motivation and help to develop confidence.

Disadvantages are it is hit on economy very badly like if a country having high proportion of elder people like over 80 or 90 then its means they are having less young people proportion , which creates problems because elder people could not able to do work and government have to pay them for their living expenses , medical and they have to pay their carer for care them. So thats mean government just have to pay them and they cant get in returns. So basically its one side investment without any profit or returns. Thats how economy crash due to they don't have any options. So due to this circumstances the government have reconsider about that problem so they decide to invite young peoples from other contries for work their and live their and allow them to marry their with their girls and improve their population growth estabily. So they need to attract overseas , so they give many options like facilities of free cost of living and offer them jobs with high salaries. At the end government needs to take action against this rapid growth of aging population in certain ways.

Advantages are youngsters get motivated by looking them and that way also attract the other countries like their men's and women's live more than them. So thats how they become more popular among other countries.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You take a position that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages and give relevant points about government spending on pensions, healthcare and care, as well as the possible value of older people’s experience. However, the response only partially addresses the question because the advantages are barely explained: “motivation” and “experience” are listed but not supported with examples or a clear account of their benefits. The discussion of government costs is more developed, but claims such as the economy “crash” and the proposed recruitment of overseas workers are asserted rather than carefully explained. To strengthen the response, develop both sides with specific examples and make your comparison of their relative importance clear throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation: the response moves from an opening position to disadvantages and then advantages, and phrases such as “On the other hand” signal contrast. However, progression within the main disadvantage paragraph is difficult to follow. The discussion shifts from care costs to economic collapse, then immigration and marriage, without clearly showing how each point connects to the argument. The final paragraph is very brief and does not balance the earlier discussion. Linking phrases such as “So basically” and “At the end” are repetitive or imprecise, and some references, including “they,” are unclear. Use separate, focused paragraphs for each main idea and connect each example explicitly to your position.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “proportion,” “living expenses,” “medical,” “carer,” and “population growth,” which helps communicate the general subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate enough to make parts of the argument difficult to interpret. For example, “less advantages then disadvantages,” “it is hit on economy,” and “one side investment” do not express the intended ideas naturally. There are also spelling errors such as “advicing,” “contries,” and “estabily.” Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing ageing, public expenditure and workforce changes, and check spelling and collocations during revision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response attempts some longer sentences using clauses such as “because” and “which,” but these structures are often faulty, and many sentences contain errors that make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “it have significance,” “elder people could not able to do work,” and “government have to pay them,” where verb forms and subject–verb agreement are not controlled. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent, as in the long sequence beginning “So thats mean government…” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with one clear subordinate clause. Pay particular attention to verb agreement, modal constructions, articles and sentence punctuation.
