Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many countries, people living longer then ever before. From some people's opinion this make problem for government and other think there are benefits if society has more elderly people.

Some people think it has advantages, when people live for long time. From their perspective it is very beneficial for society. For instance when society has aging population it can develop rapidly. Due to the fact that old people has a lot of experence of life. They know how we should live our life, how we should make dicisions, how we become successful, how we grow ouer society, and what rules we should make for keeping peace. They also know how we can control crime ratio. Furthermore, they give beneficial advices to teen agers and guide them properly. Following their guidance and advices our society can make high standered status.

From others perspective It has disadvanteges. They think that elder people can become reason of undevelopment of a country. From their opinion they are huge burden on government. They think such points for several reason. The main reason is monthly economical help which do by many well developed countries like Europe and other countries. These countries provide money to those people who are old and they cannot do work. They think If people die before reaching old age, a lot of money government can save and can use it for make new roads and can provide more facilities to public. Furthermore, we can offer more opportunities to new youth.

To conclude, from my thoughts it has more advantages than disadvantages. We can learn a lot of knowledge from our elder people. It is believed that old people are priceless treasure . It is also belived that an old people must in a house because he can guide to everyone and can control home efficiently.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and state a clear view in the conclusion: an aging population has “more advantages than disadvantages.” The discussion of older people sharing experience and guiding younger generations is relevant, as is the point about government support costs. However, the advantages are asserted more than demonstrated: claims that an aging society “can develop rapidly” and control crime need explanation or a specific example. The disadvantages paragraph also focuses mainly on public spending, while the conclusion introduces the idea that an older person should be in every home without developing it. To strengthen the response, explain the effects of each point and weigh them directly against one another, so the extent of your position is consistently supported.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, separate paragraphs for advantages and disadvantages, and a concluding opinion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “From others perspective,” and “To conclude” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes difficult to follow: the advantages move from life experience to crime control and then social status without showing how these points connect. Some transitions are repetitive or awkward, and references such as “They think such points” do not clearly identify the ideas being referred to. Organise each body paragraph around one main claim, then explain and illustrate it before moving on. Clearer links between claims and examples would make the overall argument easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “aging population,” “government,” “burden,” “opportunities,” and “guidance,” which allows you to discuss both sides of the issue. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the meaning less clear. For example, “monthly economical help” is an imprecise way to describe financial support, and “high standered status” does not express a clear outcome. There are also repeated forms such as “advices,” alongside spelling errors including “experence” and “disadvanteges.” Build a more precise set of phrases for pensions, public expenditure, and intergenerational knowledge, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt some longer structures, including “They think that elder people can become reason of undevelopment of a country” and a sentence beginning “The main reason is…,” but complex sentences are often not controlled successfully. Errors in agreement, articles, and verb forms recur: “old people has,” “this make problem,” and “which do by many well developed countries” are examples. Sentence boundaries and punctuation are also inconsistent; the opening runs two sentences together, while “life. They” lacks a space after the full stop. These patterns can make the reader pause to interpret your meaning. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then extend them with clauses using “because,” “which,” and “although,” checking agreement and articles in each sentence.
