Student answer (Band 6.0)

In recent decades, due to the advancement in nutrion and healthcare system life expentancy of humans getting higher. Some people argue that the aging population are financial burden to the society while i contend that old population have significent role in society in term of economical and cultural due to there experience.

On one hand, the main reason for the argue is that aging people create huge financial burden to the government with public health system as they need immediate medical attention due to which it rise the need of government resources and higher the budget of public health and pension schemes. To meet the financial need government impose taxes on working class. For example, japan face high economic burden due to its high number of aging people.

On the other hand, even though aging people create some issues with the health system but the role they have in the society is far significant that the drawbacks. Due to the life experience they have play vital role as they work part time and in most sectors on country to educate the young people with the knowledge they carry. They also provide family care to the grandchildren and provide emotional support to which the young people can focus on there career.

In my opinion, government should provide the adequate budget for the old people so they continue with providing there services for the betterment of the society.

In conclusion, aging people do have some drawbacks like pension and medical funds but the services they provide to the society is far important and outweigh the disadvantages.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both sides of the question and make your position clear: you argue that older people’s contributions outweigh the financial costs. The discussion of healthcare, pensions, and taxes gives relevant disadvantages, while work experience, educating younger people, and caring for grandchildren support the benefits. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the Japan example is brief and does not show how the burden affects society, and the claim that older people work in “most sectors” is broad and unsupported. Your conclusion restates your view, but the recommendation about government funding could be linked more directly to why the advantages outweigh the costs. Develop fewer examples in greater detail.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for disadvantages and advantages, and a conclusion. The signposts “On one hand,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” make the progression easy to follow. Some connections are less clear or mechanical, however. In the sentence about medical attention, “due to which” makes the relationship between healthcare needs and government spending awkward to follow. The advantages paragraph also moves quickly from employment to educating young people and then family care, without explaining how these points connect. Use clearer referencing and transitions between related ideas, and organise each body paragraph around a central point with explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “financial burden,” “public health system,” “pension schemes,” “emotional support,” and “betterment of the society.” This gives you an adequate range for discussing the issue, and the main meaning is generally clear. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, including “nutrion,” “expentancy,” “significent,” and “there experience.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “higher the budget” and “far significant.” These inaccuracies reduce precision, particularly when you are expressing comparisons or describing economic effects. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations as complete phrases, rather than translating them word by word.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including clauses introduced by “even though” and “as,” and the overall message remains understandable. Some grammatical errors occur across the response, though. The opening sentence lacks a main verb (“life expectancy of humans getting higher”), and “the aging population are” has a subject–verb agreement problem. Other examples include “the role they have … is far significant,” “they have play,” and “the services they provide … is.” Articles and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “due to the advancement in … healthcare system.” Aim to produce accurate basic clauses first, then add subordinate clauses; proofread specifically for verb forms, agreement, and articles.
