Student answer (Band 5.5)

In many nations, people age have been increased as comparewd to before. It is often argued that older population raises various problems for society while other of the opinion that they are very beneficial for the country . One major advantage of having older citizens is that they are experienced while another benefit is they can control wrong doing in a society. However, it also has some drawbacks, including stagnant of population growth and they depend on others for daily task. I believe that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.

2. Body Paragraph 1 – Advantages (80–100 words)

One significant advantage of older population is normally they are experienced indiviidal. This is because the have spent their peak time may be they faced manny challenges in thier life so they can share to the next generation. They know the good and bad aspect of the society, they can guide youngsters about their career or how to face the proplems becuase they have gone through such challenges . For example, i was living with my grandfahter when i was young, whenever i faced difficulties he helped me and guided me how to overcome those difficulties, Consequently i can solve any problem easily by my own.Another important benefit is that they know the society well they know the current affairs, problems,as a result they can guide their youngester about it .

On the other hand, one major disadvantage of aged people is growth stagnation. According to doctor, human being can only reproduce offspring in a specific age . As a result, majority of the poppulation are older. For example in Japan they population are mostly old.

Furthermore, another drawback is dependency on other person.Majority of the them face many illness and becuase of that they depend on others for their regular activities. For example, a research is conducted and 90% diseases are related to older age, I believe that these drawbacks are less significant than the benefits because ,guidance from experienced is important for all human being.

Inconclusion.Despite the dependency and poppulation stagnation i think having a olders is very important to get experienced and to become a proper citizen in society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both sides of the question and state a clear overall view: “the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.” The discussion of older people’s experience is relevant, and your grandfather example gives it a personal illustration. However, the response only partly develops the argument. The claim that elderly people can “control wrong doing” is not clearly explained, and the link between an aging population and “growth stagnation” is asserted rather than demonstrated. The Japan example is also brief and does not show how this disadvantage affects society. To strengthen the response, explain the consequences of each point and compare their importance more directly, so the conclusion that benefits outweigh costs follows from the discussion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, moving from an introduction to advantages, disadvantages and a conclusion. Phrases such as “One significant advantage” and “On the other hand” help signal the direction of the discussion. However, progression within paragraphs is uneven: the advantages paragraph shifts from experience to current affairs without a clear connection, while the disadvantages paragraph combines population growth and care needs with limited development. Some linking is mechanical or unclear, particularly “As a result” where the cause-and-effect relationship is not fully established. The conclusion repeats the main position but adds little synthesis. Use clearer topic sentences, develop one point at a time, and make references and transitions show precisely how ideas relate.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “experienced,” “generation,” “dependency,” “population growth” and “current affairs.” These choices make the main subject understandable. However, the range is limited and several noticeable word-choice, collocation and spelling errors reduce precision, such as “growth stagnation,” “share to the next generation,” “regular activities” and “a olders.” Repetition of “older,” “people” and “benefit” also limits flexibility. Aim to learn natural phrases for discussing demographic change and care needs, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express the argument without relying on broad or awkward phrases.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including explanations with “because” and results introduced by “As a result.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur frequently enough to make some sentences difficult to follow. For example, “people age have been increased” has an incorrect verb construction, while “they are experienced” and “they depend on others for daily task” show problems with articles, agreement and number. Several sentences run together, as in “They know the good and bad aspect of the society, they can guide youngsters,” and punctuation is often missing or misplaced. Practise accurate subject–verb patterns, articles and plural forms, then separate complete ideas with appropriate punctuation.
