Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The essay addresses both sides of the prompt and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention benefits like 'team work' and 'time management', the explanations are brief and rely on generalisations. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific detail. For instance, instead of just mentioning 'cooking' or 'building a tent', explain how these specific activities foster long-term character development. Your position is consistent, but the supporting arguments need more depth to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'On the other side', and 'To conclude'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between ideas is slightly abrupt. Additionally, the use of punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with commas, which occasionally disrupts the flow of your writing. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring more precise punctuation would enhance the overall coherence of your response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'time management', 'productivity', and 'academics'. However, there is a lack of variety, and you rely on basic phrasing. There are also frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'there' instead of 'their' and 'news skills' instead of 'new skills'. To improve, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensure you are using the correct forms of words to avoid these recurring errors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'children you having a daily time table'), incorrect word order, and missing articles. Punctuation is also a significant area for improvement, as you often place commas incorrectly, such as before the word 'that' or after 'individuals'. While your meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of these errors limits your score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help significantly.
