Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some children prefer to spend their free time in group activities, while others use it to learn additional skills and spend time on their own. Both of these things have benefits and some demerits, which are discussed below.

Firstly, group activities can boost children's confidence to survive in different conditions, and also they can learn to work in a team. In addition to this, children can learn different languages and skills from others. For example, sports team captains always say that it's a team effort because of that we have achieved this win. Moreover, in groups, people come from different cultures so that students can learn different languages and skills easily.

On the other hand, some students want to spend their own time learning new skills for their personal and professional growth. It will boost their chances of getting jobs, and it also makes them different than the others. As we know, some famous people have given their own times in reseraching or discovering new things to make life better. For example. Sir Newton, Sir Edison and so on.

From my point of view, People who are encouraging their students to take part in group activities are also right, but children who are spending their own time in learning new things they are also right. However, I think that Group activities play a vital role in children's development, so that parents have to teach their children to take part in team activities

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay falls short of the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of the discussion. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat underdeveloped. For instance, the examples provided, such as 'Sir Newton' and 'Sir Edison', are brief and lack sufficient explanation to fully support the argument. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed reasoning and ensure you meet the minimum word count to allow for a more comprehensive exploration of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Firstly', 'In addition to this', and 'On the other hand', to link your points. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions are abrupt. The concluding paragraph is quite brief and lacks a strong summary of the main points. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects smoothly to the next.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'professional growth' and 'development'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'given their own times in reseraching'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'reseraching'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary and collocations related to education and child development, and ensure you proofread for spelling accuracy.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'because of that we have achieved this win' and 'People who are encouraging their students... they are also right'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of full stops and capitalization after examples. To improve, focus on sentence construction and subject-verb agreement. Practicing complex sentence forms while ensuring they remain error-free will help you achieve a higher score.
