Student answer (Band 6.0)
Utilizing children's free time is a crucial part of their growth. It is important for the parents to guide their children about the utilization of their free time. Therefore, some people believe that parents should encourage their children to take part in organized group activities for their mental growth. Whereas, others state that children should learn how to occupy themselves on their own. I personally believe that it is a moral duty of parents to guide their children on how to choose right path.
The overall growth of a child is completely dependent on how his parents guide him. Parents are always responsible to teach their children about the correct utilization of their time. When a child has leisure time, parents always encourage their kids to get involved in group activities such as studying, playing or dancing. They believe that it enhances a child's mental growth. Also, it help a child to compete himself with other friends and improve his flaws. Moreover, encouraging children for other curricular activity builds confidence within a child.
On the other hand, some people believe that children should learn about how to use their free time effectively on their own. According to some people, students should not ask parents for helping them, it simply means the kids should manage their time in studies and in other activities on their own. It improves a decision making power among children. It also enhances their confidence and makes them know the worth of time management.
To conclude, despite the fact that when a child manages his time own his own improves his decision making power, I believe that parents guidance can bring more advantages in children growth. When a child is accompanied by his parents, he can be told about pros and cons of his decision which eventually help him choosing a right path.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument for group activities is supported by general statements like 'enhances a child's mental growth,' but lacks specific examples or deeper analysis. Similarly, the section on independent play mentions 'decision making power' but does not fully explain how this is achieved. To reach a higher band, you should provide more concrete examples or detailed explanations for each viewpoint. The position is consistent throughout, but the depth of the discussion remains at a general level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the other hand,' 'Moreover,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'some people believe.' The referencing is generally clear, though there are minor issues with flow between sentences in the second paragraph. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'utilization of their free time' and 'overall growth.' There are some awkward collocations, such as 'compete himself with other friends' and 'encouraging children for other curricular activity.' While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficiently wide to demonstrate flexibility. To improve, try to incorporate more topic-specific collocations and avoid repeating the same words in close proximity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'it help a child' (subject-verb agreement), 'parents guidance' (missing possessive), and 'when a child manages his time own his own' (preposition error). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and preposition usage to ensure greater accuracy in your complex sentences.
