Student answer (Band 6.5)
Some people say that parents should encourage their children to participate in the group work in their free time, whereas others believe they should let their children to decide what to do while they are free. I personally believe, children should be directed to take the participation in the group activities at the initial stage of development.
To start with, there are mainly two reasons why child should have an authority to decide what to do in their free time. The first reason could be decision making. In real life and at any stage of the life, a person should have ability to make decisions. So, if children could be left alone to choose about what to do in their leisure time, they may end up developing the decision making skills. The second could be finding their interest. Their are so many young people and children who may not have the exposure of their interest yet because they may not have had an opportunity to decide where and how they want to spend their free time. Therefore, if a child is left alone and allow to plan their free time, they could end up finding their hobie which they could pursue as a career when they grow old.
On the other side, the prominent reason why the parents should encourage their child to take a part in group activity could be learning team work. Nowadays, there are so many people who do not how to become a good team member, and also they always priotirize individual growth than team development. The reason could be they may have never taken a part in group work, and posibaly never understand the importance of it. This is what they may face in real life or in corporate world where they may have to work in the team, and they may have to prove that their primary goal is team growth not an individual development. The second reason could be leadership quality. To elaborate, when parents push their child to take a part in group work because they posibilly want their child to develop leadership quality. So, if they are pushing thier child to go and participate, it may actually workout when they grow, and they will have to take decisions.
to wrap up, yes, individual development and growth could be made if children learn to occupy themselves by their own. However, I believe children should be pushed out to take a participation in the group activity to develope life long skills,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as decision-making and interest-finding for independent play, and teamwork and leadership for group activities. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second body paragraph where the focus on 'teamwork' and 'leadership' overlaps significantly. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is distinct and fully explored with more specific examples rather than general statements about the 'corporate world'.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To start with', 'On the other side', and 'To wrap up', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'they' when referring to children or parents. The flow between sentences is generally smooth, but the connection between the ideas within paragraphs could be tightened to improve the overall progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'exposure' and 'prioritize', but there are also persistent spelling errors (e.g., 'hobie', 'posibaly', 'priotirize', 'develope') and minor collocation issues (e.g., 'take the participation' instead of 'participate'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a wider range of precise, academic vocabulary to move into the higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the group work', 'the corporate world'), verb forms ('let their children to decide', 'allow to plan'), and subject-verb agreement. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some awkward phrasings that distract from the message. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and ensuring that complex structures are used with greater accuracy.
