Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is a debatable topic whether parents should encourage their children to take part in organized group activities in their free time while other argues that it is crucial for them to occupy themselves on their own. In my opinion, children should take part in organized group activities in order to improve communication and team work.

First and foremost, In the leisure time children usually do not know what is best for them and sometimes they stranded in middle of deep thought thinking what should I do to pass the time therefore, they become more unreliable and do not learn anything which is required for the growth of individuals.

Secondly, having a group setting will foster an environment for individual to improve their communication skills which is essential in their life whether they are looking for the job or love life. Furthermore, taking part in the group will improve their team work and coordination that will beneficial for them in long run in group assignments or professional work environment.

Lastly, Taking part in the organized group would help them to learn critical thinking and share the knowledge of with each others that will increase their learning power and gain practicality in the real world. Moreover, organized group would also teach them to learn time management skills.

Therefore by considering these above two mentioned points it would be highly beneficial for the children to take part in organized group in their leisure time to improve their communication, time management and team work skills which is essential for growth of the individuals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument, though the discussion of the second view (learning to occupy oneself) is largely neglected in the body paragraphs. While you clearly state your opinion in the introduction, the prompt asks to 'discuss both these views,' which requires a more balanced exploration of why some people value independent play. Your arguments for group activities are relevant, but they are somewhat repetitive, focusing heavily on communication and teamwork. To reach a higher band, ensure that both perspectives are given sufficient weight and that your own opinion is integrated more naturally into the development of the essay rather than just stated at the beginning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost,' 'Secondly,' and 'Moreover' to link your points. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and some mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition 'Therefore by considering these above two mentioned points' is slightly clunky. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid. The paragraphing is appropriate, which helps the reader follow your argument structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'organized group activities,' 'coordination,' and 'time management.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and minor collocation errors, such as 'stranded in middle of deep thought' and 'gain practicality.' The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and you rely on fairly common expressions. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and idiomatic collocations that demonstrate a broader range of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in the leisure time'), subject-verb agreement ('other argues'), and preposition usage ('share the knowledge of with each others'). Some sentences are also slightly fragmented or lack necessary punctuation, which affects the overall fluency. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and try to construct more complex sentences with greater precision to demonstrate better control over your writing.
