Student answer (Band 6.0)
In a leisure time, children should participate in group activities are believed by some parents, while others believe that children should learn to spend their free time alone. Both the views have several benefits, I believed children should spend more time by themselves.
On the one hand, participating in a group activities helps the kids to gain many skills, such as sharing, cooperation, discipline and healthy communication as well. As a result, children become more confident and responsible in their life. Apart from it, they can enhance their social circle, which directly makes them more active and energetic. Group activities not only help the children to make new friends but also help them learn how to follow the rules.
On the other hand, Spending time alone is the best therapy for relaxing the mind and learning from the mistakes that they made in past. They can also enjoy their hobbies like reading books and watching movies that help them to learn about their interests and life goals. Unless children stay alone, they are unable to make their own decisions and completely rely on their parents and friends.
In conclusion, although group activities help the kids to become more socialize, I believe parents should encourage their children to spend quality time alone because this trend will help the children to become more confident and self-dependent.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, which limits the depth of development for the ideas presented. While the points regarding social skills and self-reflection are relevant, they are somewhat brief and lack detailed supporting examples. Because the length requirement is not met, the development of ideas is constrained, preventing the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, you should expand on your arguments with more specific examples or personal anecdotes to ensure the word count is met and the ideas are fully explored.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to signal the transition between ideas. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the opening sentence ('In a leisure time... are believed by some parents'). The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the brevity of the paragraphs makes the overall structure feel slightly underdeveloped.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You have used some topic-specific vocabulary like 'cooperation,' 'discipline,' and 'self-dependent.' However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'become more socialize' (should be 'socialized') and 'In a leisure time' (should be 'In their leisure time'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and more sophisticated or precise synonyms would help elevate the score. Focus on using more natural collocations to improve the flow and precision of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For example, 'Both the views have several benefits, I believed children...' is a comma splice, and 'Unless children stay alone, they are unable...' is an incorrect use of 'unless' in this context. There are also issues with article usage and verb forms, such as 'the kids' (often unnecessary) and 'the mistakes that they made in past' (missing 'the'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to limit the score.
