Student answer (Band 6.5)

Nowadays, the methods of children activities has become a hot topic. Many individuals argue that parents must motivates children to participate in group activities, whereas other think that children can stay engaged on their own. This essay will discuss both sides, and why I strongly believe that a balanced approach will work.

There are several reasons why parents are encouraging the organized group activities. To start with, it will boost children ability to do the teamwork. For example, those who participate in the team events, such as creative workshops and collaborative games know how to behave in a group. This will help them to build social skills like communication, active listening and problem-solving. Moreover, the children will get ready to face the real-life challenges. To illustrate, in an interactive outing, children has to collaborate with others, who are not their friends. This makes them to come out of their comfort zone. As a result, slowly they will be able to adapt in any circumstances.

On the other hand, There are various factors why parents making children to keep themselves occupied independently. Firstly, it will help them to bring out their ability in full extent. For instance, a child who done all the work alone will be aware about his strength and weaknesses. As a result, to reach a goal, he can work for it from his childhood. Secondly, when going through the life struggles, this children know how to make them happier. Since they are spending their time alone, they know how to face a situation in which nobody will be with them.

To conclude, while some parents are encouraging the children to participate in group activities and others making them to learn to occupy themselves. The benefit of joining in organized group activities will help to face challenges and increase their teamwork ability. Also, The pros of working alone is that they know how to be happier. I strongly believe that a balanced approach will make the children capable to make their life stable.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, such as the benefits of teamwork for social skills and the value of self-reliance for personal growth. However, some points could be more deeply explored; for instance, the connection between working alone and 'being happier' is a bit vague and could benefit from more specific examples. Overall, the task is fully addressed, and the position is consistent throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in the concluding paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion, which helps the reader follow the argument without difficulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There are some attempts at using more sophisticated collocations like 'collaborative games' and 'real-life challenges'. However, there are occasional inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'methods of children activities' (should be 'methods of engaging children') and 'bring out their ability in full extent' (should be 'reach their full potential'). These errors do not impede communication but prevent a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'parents must motivates', 'children has to collaborate', 'this children know') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly clunky due to these errors. While the student attempts complex structures, the control over them is inconsistent. Improving accuracy in basic grammar would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
