Student answer (Band 6.0)
A few individuals argue that parents need to push their kids to participate in planned social events where as others say that children should figure out what they need to do in their leisure time. Although it is important for kids to think individually, In my opinion, parents should encourage their kids to be a part of team events because they know what will be suitable based on their kid's interest.
It is extremely important for kids to think individually and plan their time according to their preferences. It will make their brain to think in creative way and in addition to that they will develop time management skills. However, young people wont have a knowledge of what activities they can do and sometimes there is a chance of getting trouble by choosing wrong group activity. For example, my neighbor's kid was hospitalized because of playing football and he was not aware that he cant play physical activity sports due to his breathing problem.
On the other side, Parents know their child's interests, strengths and weaknesses. Based on that and the knowledge they have on different group activities, they can take a better decision which is suitable for their kid. This choice will make kids time productive and will be more useful for the kid in future. For example, a famous cricketer choose take running as his hobby but his father encouraged him to play cricket. based on his capabilities. Later, that decision made him one of the greatest cricketer in the world.
In Conclusion, even though it is crucial for younger generation to take their own decisions, parents need to choose and encourage their kids will make kids life better.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The first body paragraph contains a slightly confusing argument regarding the risks of group activities, which lacks logical depth. The second body paragraph is more focused, though the example of the cricketer is a bit vague. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more nuanced reasoning. The position is consistent throughout, and all parts of the prompt are addressed, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5, which rounds to 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However', 'On the other side', and 'In Conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disjointed, particularly within the first body paragraph. Referencing is generally clear, but the connection between sentences could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'leisure time' and 'productive', but the range is somewhat limited. Some word choices are slightly imprecise, such as 'getting trouble' instead of 'getting into trouble' or 'take running' instead of 'take up running'. While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. A wider variety of topic-specific collocations would enhance the quality of the writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'where as' (whereas), 'make their brain to think' (make their brain think), and 'wont have a knowledge' (lack knowledge). Additionally, there are punctuation issues, such as the unnecessary capital letter in 'In my opinion' and missing commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these frequent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of complex structures.
