Student answer (Band 6.0)

People have varied thoughts about how children should spend their leisure time. While some of them believe that children must be participated in any team activities such as Football, others consider that children can decide as per their interest which activites they should take participate. Personally, I think, children should be free to choose activities according to their interest by involving the guidance of their parents.

Those who believe that group activities should be selected by children during their free time argue that it helps them to become a critical thinker. Team play, such as Football, Cricket and many more, teach children how to take a decision wisely while respecting others' thoughts. In the near future, they have to work with collegues as a team, and the only cooperative team can help to work effectively and efficiently. If they learn this skill since childhood, helping children to become successful in long term goals.

As per others, choosing activities as per children's interest, helping them to become a more confident and self independent. This opportunity not only gives them a chance to find out their area of interest but also help them to finalize their future goal. It also helps children to take their decision by their own insated of depending on parents' decision. Therefore, children can feel their value and sens of freedom.

In my opinion, children should have a right to spend their free time according to their interest either they would like to play or read, but before performing any task they should dicuss it with their parents. It helps children to take right decision for themselves with the hands on expreience of their parents.

In conclusion, some people think that their children should participate in group activites , others give them freedom to choose things accordingly. Both perspectives have their own points, but still I am considering that children should be free to decide their activites along with their parents suugestions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed all parts of the prompt by discussing both views and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of teamwork versus the development of independence. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the explanation of how group activities lead to 'critical thinking' is a bit thin and could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis. Your position is consistent throughout the essay, which is a strength. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more depth and logical extension rather than moving quickly between ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In conclusion' and 'Therefore', to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'As per others' to introduce a new viewpoint, which is not standard academic phrasing. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth transitions, making the progression of ideas feel a bit disjointed at times. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'this skill', 'this opportunity') is always clear will help improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'effectively and efficiently' and 'self independent'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'must be participated in' (should be 'participate in') and 'insated of' (instead of). Spelling errors are also present, such as 'collegues', 'expreience', and 'suugestions'. To improve, focus on learning the correct prepositional usage and common collocations, and proofread carefully to eliminate minor spelling slips that distract the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'If they learn this skill since childhood, helping children to become successful...' where the clause structure is incomplete. There are frequent errors in verb forms and sentence construction, such as 'children can decide as per their interest which activites they should take participate'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Increasing your control over complex structures and ensuring subject-verb agreement will help raise your score.
