Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many individuals believe that guardians need to motivate their children to involve in organized team activities in their spare time, while others think they should learn to deal with themselves alone is an essential. This essay will discuss both the sides and I believe that both the perspects are important to build skills in children.

First and foremost, there are lot of benefits to spend free time in some team activities. To be more precise, children will learn the power of team work, new skills from others, develop new relationships and many more. To elaborate more, there are various kind of children in the group activities, some are excellent at one part while others are on other. This will give chance to learn different methods from different individuals. Apart from this, they meet different children for the activities, which give them chance to make new friends.

On the other side, children can get to know themselves more deeply, and work on their weaken areas if they spend some time for themselves alone. It will make them sharp and intelligent. Secondly, they develop self control and new techniques to solve problems and difficulties. They can notice areas that need to be improve and try to find solution.

According to my perspective, both group activities and spending time by own are equally important for children as both have its own advantages, so parents need to divide time to involve their children in both the things.

In conclusion, parents should encourage children to do group activities as well as to spend some of their spare time alone to develop new skills and problem solving nature.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both viewpoints and providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of teamwork and the development of self-reliance. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on 'weaken areas' and 'problem solving' is quite general and could be strengthened with more specific examples or deeper analysis. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed explanations or concrete illustrations rather than listing benefits in a repetitive manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two viewpoints. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'First and foremost', 'To be more precise', and 'On the other side'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'deal with themselves alone is an essential', which is grammatically awkward and disrupts the cohesion of the opening statement. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'organized team activities' and 'self-control'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'deal with themselves alone', 'weaken areas' (instead of 'weaknesses'), and 'problem solving nature'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms for basic words like 'good' or 'important'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'there are lot of benefits to spend' (should be 'to spending'), 'various kind of children' (should be 'kinds'), and 'areas that need to be improve' (should be 'improved'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your points. To achieve a higher band, you need to demonstrate better control over verb forms, pluralization, and sentence construction, ensuring that the majority of your sentences are error-free.
