Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued parents should influence their young ones to participate in organized team activities in their idle time, while other believes that, it is significant for children to learn how to keep themselves busy on their own. In this essay, I will elucidate both sides of the argument with my support to the former side.

The predominant reason guardians stimulate their children to involves themselves in collective activities is the benefits it facilitates. Getting occupied with such group activities supports them in their mental and physical development. Precisely, participating in clubs for instance, sports, debate, and arts, where it involves team effort aiming towards a common goal with full intensity would encourage children to perform their best with team work, resilience, and discipline. Eventually, It will lead to their overall development which also help them to build a strong personal character and boost their career growth. Apart from this, pupils in their young age would not be able to make decisions, so parents assist their young ones to involve in such team activities for increasing their skills and abilities.

Nevertheless, children due to advancement in technology are becoming self reliant. It is easier for them to understand and acknowledge things on their own because of the content available everywhere on the internet. Specifically, they could able to focus on activities which are of their interest. learning skills from online material would be highly time effective and they can attain those things at their own speed. As a result less pressure on them to outperform everyone in the group.

In my opinion, parents should provide guidance to their young ones without putting any pressure on them. Group activities will help them to learn numerous abilities which help them to achieve success in future.

To conclude, parents should be provided with the safe space to their children where they could open themselves and accordingly they could encourage them to participate in group activities or can occupy themselves of their own.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all parts of the task by discussing both perspectives and providing a clear personal opinion. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant and generally well-supported, particularly in the first body paragraph regarding the benefits of group activities. However, the second body paragraph regarding independent activities is slightly less developed, as the link between technology and being 'self-reliant' could be more explicitly connected to the idea of 'occupying oneself'. To reach a higher band, ensure that every point made directly supports the prompt's core theme of how children spend their free time.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'The predominant reason', 'Apart from this', 'Nevertheless', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing and flow. For instance, the final sentence of the conclusion is a bit repetitive and lacks clarity regarding the 'safe space' concept. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong, unified focus will help improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'elucidate', 'resilience', and 'self-reliant'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices or minor errors, such as 'influence their young ones to participate' (encourage is better) and 'attain those things' (acquire skills is more precise). While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on collocations and more academic phrasing will help elevate your lexical score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'other believes' (others believe), 'to involves themselves' (to involve themselves), 'they could able to focus' (they are able to focus), and 'parents should be provided with the safe space to their children' (parents should provide a safe space for their children). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not prevent communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of modal verbs.
