Student answer (Band 6.5)

In this contemporary era, some people think that the best way to develop overall growth of teenagers is to encourage them to join group activities. Other believe that it is vital for juveniles to survive alone. This essay will discuss both sides before giving my own opinion.

On the one side of it, with the aid of team activities, teenagers can develop several long-term skills and they can experience new thoughts from others. In other words, when children involves in group tasks, there are better chances to develop communication ability by interacting with other children, also they can enhance their cognitive ability to perform different tasks as a group member. For instance, a report conducted by "The Tribune" revealed that, those children who got chance to manage the group activities in early age, their leadership quality is more dominated than the others. Therefore, team activities have a significant impact on children life for future development.

On the other side of it, when teenagers perform activities alone, there are better chances to develop the sense of independence or children feel more innovative when nobody is around and it help them to more creative. To specify, in the group activities, children are less likely to develop problem-solving skill because they are surrounded with several brains and they don't need to thing deeply on any particular task. Hence, children feel more dependent and there are less chances to develop their ideas when they work as a team member.

All in all, although working alone help children to make them independent and they can able to solve issues by developing problem solving skill, there are good chances to develop better communication and cognitive ability during group activities. I think it is better to prioritize both things in a equal manner, which can help to prepare overall development of children for future perspective.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses both sides of the argument and provides a clear personal opinion in the conclusion. The ideas are relevant, such as the benefits of communication in group activities and the development of independence through solitary play. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why group activities might hinder problem-solving is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced examples or deeper analysis of the consequences of each approach. The position is consistent throughout, but the final recommendation to prioritize both equally could be more explicitly linked to the preceding arguments to demonstrate a more sophisticated synthesis of the two views.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one side of it', 'In other words', and 'All in all' to guide the reader. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, such as the phrasing 'On the one side of it' and 'On the other side of it'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, such as in the final paragraph where 'both things' refers back to the two concepts. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents would enhance the flow and coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'contemporary era', 'cognitive ability', and 'innovative'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'leadership quality is more dominated' is not a natural collocation; 'more pronounced' or 'more developed' would be better. Similarly, 'prepare overall development' is slightly awkward. You attempt to use less common vocabulary, but the precision is inconsistent. To improve, focus on learning collocations—words that naturally go together—rather than just individual synonyms, and ensure that your word choices are contextually appropriate to convey your ideas more precisely.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('when children involves', 'working alone help children'), article usage errors ('in early age'), and awkward phrasing ('they can able to solve'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that modal verbs like 'can' are followed by the correct verb form without 'able to'.
