Student answer (Band 6.0)

When it comes to how children should spend leisure time, there are divided opinions. While some people argue that they should be engaged in group activities, others oppose and claim that they should find ways of self-engagement. Before I present my preference, both viewpoints should be discussed.

There are several benefits of pursuing team-work in leisure time. The foremost one is that they may learn socilizing skills. To elaborate, there are many individuals facing challenges to connect to other people because of the reason that they had never involved in group activities during an early age. Consequently, they may not given employment opportunities related to human interactions. This would reducing their chances of being successful in their life. Moreover, group work also foster a way of living in harmony. In other words, child would learn how to deal with defferent personalities whether it is kind or aggressive. This would help them to balance relations among family members. Consequently, they can create peaceful environment for their future generation. In some cases, they are often receive help from other students who are proficient in certain subjects, if succeed in making good companionship.

On the other hand, leave them alone to find ways of engagement in leisure time has many benefits. Firstly, it would foster creativity when let them choose over their free time. To explain, in the situation, they are forced to find their core interest such as painting, singing, sport. So, they are more likely to dig out their passion. When they find subject of interest, they would work effortlessly and will eventually be rewarding. Furthermore, some children need solidarity for self-introspection. It is undoubtedly clear that many aspire to sit alone with theselves to analyze their past mistakes and apply new techniques for favourable results in exam or other activities. They may also brainstorm new ideas for further developments.

In conclusion, both sides have their own plausible arguments. But in my opinion, they are require to participate in group activities rather than leaving alone on their own. Because not every child think about self development when leave on their own. So its better to learn some socializing skills to meet the future demand of corporate world.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on how children should spend their leisure time and clearly presents the writer's own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are extended and supported, such as exploring the benefits of socialization and self-introspection. However, there is a tendency to over-generalize in certain arguments, such as claiming that children without group experience will inevitably fail to get employment opportunities. The position is maintained clearly throughout, satisfying the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 response. To reach a higher band, the arguments would need deeper, more nuanced development rather than relying on slightly sweeping generalisations.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a clear logical organisation with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs addressing each viewpoint, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'The foremost one', 'Moreover', and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing and paragraphing occasionally feel mechanical or slightly awkward, as seen in sentences like 'On the other hand, leave them alone to find ways of engagement'. Paragraph breaks are used adequately to separate the different perspectives, but transitions between sentences can sometimes be abrupt, preventing the essay from achieving a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'self-introspection', 'human interactions', and 'corporate world'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'socilizing' instead of 'socializing', 'defferent' instead of 'different', and 'rewarding' where a noun or adverbial phrase might fit better ('rewarded'). Phrasing such as 'if succeed in making good companionship' also highlights some limitations in lexical control and collocation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('child would learn', 'they are require', 'every child think', 'leave on their own'), missing subjects or auxiliary verbs ('they may not given employment', 'when let them choose'), and awkward prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the grammar score from rising into the higher bands.
