Student answer (Band 5.0)

Individuals belives that parents should motivate their children to join in organized group activities. Others believe that children should find their own way to stay busy. This essay will discuss both sides and then I will provide my opinion at the end.

Children learn faster by engaging with other kids through group activities. It will lead to fundamental improvement of communication and leveling up skills by oberserving their peers. Certain study shows that, children involved in group activities catch up 43% quicker than the one who is raised in minimum social environment. I agree with the point as the effectiveness is much greater on long time.

However, on the other side, Children becomes isolated who were expected to be self-occupy. They mainly pivot their attention on video games after some point of time which shows adverse effect on mental condition like irrelevant aggression or lack of patience. I disagree with this side as it is not providing any fruitful qualities to the children.

At the end, I believe that children must engage in group activties rather than expected to be occupy on their own as pros of engaging in organised group activities are more than the other.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both views regarding group activities versus independent play and provides a clear personal stance. However, the ideas are under-developed due to the brevity of the response, and the word count falls significantly short of the 250-word minimum at 197 words. The mention of a specific statistic ('43% quicker') appears unsupported or fabricated, which detracts from task response. While the writer attempts to present arguments for both sides, the lack of full development and the failure to meet the minimum length requirement restrict the score under the Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into four short paragraphs, representing an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. There is a basic overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'However, on the other side' and 'At the end', but they can feel mechanical and repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'the one who is raised in minimum social environment', which disrupts the logical flow. Paragraphing is attempted, but the paragraphs are extremely brief. This places the response firmly within Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, featuring basic phrases like 'organized group activities' and 'video games'. There are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Individuals belives', 'leveling up skills', and 'self-occupy' instead of self-occupation or occupying themselves. Spelling errors like 'oberserving' also occur. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey a general meaning, the limited range and frequent lexical errors prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Individuals belives that parents should motivate...' and 'Children learn faster by engaging...'. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('Individuals belives', 'Children becomes isolated') and incorrect word forms ('activties', 'long time' instead of the long term). While these errors rarely completely impede communication, they cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and show a limited control over complex structures.
