Student answer (Band 6.0)

In now days, some people believe that parents ought to motivate their children to participate in group activities and others think that teenagers should spend their spare time while doing their own activities. I would like to discuss both views in the upcoming paragraphs before presenting my own opinion.

On the one hand, there are several reasons that younsters should engage in recreational activities. The most important reason is that it will support today's generation to enhance their interpersonal skills, such as teamwork, coopration, discipline, trust and so on. To be explained, there are numerous games in which players needs to collabrate with each other in order to win the game. For example, football and hockey. In addition to this, in this fast paced era everyone envolve in their own matters and becoming less social day by day. Group activities is a good chance for teenagers to socialize with their agemates.

On the other hand side, people opine that children should occupy themselves independently. Firstly, it will assist youngsters to make their life easy, because they can make their own desicions according to their choice. There will be no peer pressure or time limit to complete the tasks. Secondly, it can encourage young ones to be more creative. For entance, children who play by their own can use their imagination to create different toys with the small help from their parents.

To be conclude, particupating in group activities have their own benefits, however advantages of playing alone cannot be overlooked either. In my opinion, children should envolve themselves in team based activities to improve their physical and mental well being.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on children's leisure activities—organised group activities versus playing independently—and presents a clear personal opinion in the introduction and conclusion. Ideas are relevant and supported with explanations and examples, such as mentioning football and hockey for teamwork, and imaginative play for creativity. However, some arguments remain slightly under-developed and rely on generalisations, such as the claim that children can create toys with only small help from parents. Overall, the response fulfils the requirements of the task adequately, matching the Band 6.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure, using standard introductory, body, and concluding paragraphs. Cohesive devices are employed to signal transitions, such as 'On the one hand', 'In addition to this', and 'On the other hand side'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, transitional phrases like 'To be explained' and 'To be conclude' are unnatural and grammatically incorrect. Furthermore, paragraph transitions could be smoother. These issues place the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category for this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common items and collocation, such as 'interpersonal skills', 'peer pressure', and 'mental well-being'. However, there are notable word choice, spelling, and morphological errors throughout the text, including 'younsters' (youngsters), 'coopration' (cooperation), 'collabrate' (collaborate), 'agemates' (age-mates), and 'envolve' (involved/engage). These errors reflect a Band 6.0 level, where the range is adequate, but inaccuracies in word choice and spelling are noticeable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over sentence structure with phrases like 'The most important reason is that it will support today's generation to enhance...'. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are several recurring errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('players needs to collabrate', 'particupating... have'), tense usage errors ('In now days'), and incorrect prepositional phrases ('play by their own' instead of 'play on their own'). Because errors in grammar and punctuation occur frequently but rarely impede overall communication, the performance aligns with Band 6.0 descriptors.
