Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals suggest that kids should get engaged in several group activities in their vacant hours. While other admits children should learn to enjoy their own company. According to my perspective, group participation could be a great idea to engage children with other kids so they could learn from each other.
Mass activities involving number of same age children could have several positive impact on them. They learn to share, communicate and also gain insights about their different cultures and diversities. Children learns to collaborate and work as a team to solve any puzzle or game. For example, the board game involving two or more players will make them learn to utilize their intellectual skills to enhance their performance to win the game.
On the other hand, children could also develop concentration skills by staying alone. The kids who stays alone has their own personal space for their activities and they will design their own ideas and techniques to cope with the situation. In this scenario, children could learn to become independent. For example, many pupils in the classroom prefers to study alone, to avoid disturbance. They could concentrate in productive way when they are away from others.
In my opinion, the students who are involved in any group structures are more extrovert and could be more intelligent because they learn from each other to develop intellectual abilities. However, the kids belongs to live alone and enjoys their own company could be shy on stage and will not able to deal or communicate when placed in any group. For example, the professional working environment involves dealing with several co-workers. Working as a team is the real task to reach any goal of an organization.
In conclusion, the group activity and occupying own space has their own point of views. In my perception, being a part of a group is more productive than staying alone.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—group activities versus independent play—and provides a clear personal opinion. The student establishes a stance early in the introduction and maintains it through to the conclusion. Ideas are relevant, with examples provided for both perspectives, such as board games for teamwork and independent study to avoid disturbances in the classroom. However, some arguments lack full extension and tend to over-generalise, such as the claim that children who play alone will 'not able to deal or communicate' later in life. Overall, the content sufficiently covers the task requirements to meet the criteria for Band 6.5, leaning towards Band 6 due to under-developed examples.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear paragraph structure. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, starting with the introduction, moving to group activities, independent play, personal opinion, and a final conclusion. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as 'On the other hand' used appropriately, but transitions between sentences within paragraphs can feel disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in 'In this scenario, children could learn to become independent,' where the logical link to the preceding sentence could be smoother. Paragraphing is used sufficiently, but overall progression falters slightly in the middle sections, placing this firmly at Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'collaborate', 'intellectual skills', and 'professional working environment'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'get engaged' instead of 'engage', 'vacant hours' instead of 'free time', and 'kids belongs to live alone' instead of 'children who prefer to live alone'. Spelling and word-formation errors, such as 'Children learns' (agreement error spilling into lexical control) and 'extrovert' used as an adjective without proper context, indicate an adequate vocabulary range with frequent minor slips, aligning with Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and articles. Examples include 'children learns', 'the kids who stays', 'prefers to study', and 'will not able to deal'. Additionally, punctuation and phrasing issues occasionally disrupt the flow, such as missing articles in 'reaches any goal of an organization'. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they occur regularly and prevent the text from reaching a higher band, making Band 6.0 an appropriate descriptor score.
