Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are few individuals who believe that it is the parents reponsibility to involve in planning the team activities for their kids. However, others think that children should be set free on how to make themselves busy. Before commenting, both the opinion would be discussed further.

On the one hand, some people claim that guardians should decide on what kind of group activities they have to participate in. By this they mean, parents can keep an eye on growth of the kids will have and help to reduce their screen time. For example, they can enroll their children in cooking class which help them to learn about the spices and make the food which is healthy, and which ultimately helps to utilise their quality time in a produtive way.

Not only that, it is also beneficial in adding up one skill in their skill set and that is only possible if they have their parents involved.

On the other hand, opponents witness that leaving kids free in choosing their leisure activities helps them to explore and to decide on their on what is best and bad for them. For example, many parents believe that if the kids are able to select on games which will help to promote their growth. For example, confidence building, decision making and how to coordinate with others from the very early age, then this quality will help in their future endeavours. But this, sometimes goes wrong if the children becomes the addictive of some life threatening games. A very good example of it blue whale game many kids turned in to autism because of it severe impact on mind.

In conclusion, it better to set free kids but not entirely there must be a controll of parents on certain activities which can have negative impacts. So I believe guardians must have to take care of what their kids are doing and wherever is possible should intervine in them but that also up to certain extent. Therefore, parents has to follow the balanced approach for deciding their leisure activities.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both views on children's leisure activities and providing a personal opinion in the conclusion. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or contain logical inconsistencies, such as the sudden shift in the third paragraph to discuss the negative impacts of video games like the 'blue whale game,' which is only loosely connected to the concept of leaving children free to choose their own leisure activities. Despite these minor digressions, the main arguments regarding structured group activities versus independent play are sufficiently covered, earning a solid Band 6.5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay is arranged coherently with a recognizable introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, following standard essay structure. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' are used to signal shifts between ideas, although referencing and linking can occasionally feel a bit mechanical or awkward, as seen in phrases like 'Before commenting, both the opinion would be discussed further.' Paragraphing is used sufficiently, grouping related ideas together, though internal transitions within paragraphs could be smoother to enhance the overall logical flow. Overall, the organizational structure meets the criteria for Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student displays an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'endeavours,' 'intervene,' and 'productive.' However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the essay, such as 'reponsibility' (spelling error), 'become the addictive of' (incorrect phrasing for 'become addicted to'), and 'turn in to autism' (inaccurate medical/factual collocation). Despite these errors, communication is rarely impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meanings, placing it at a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar with complex structures like relative clauses and conditional statements (e.g., 'if the kids are able to select on games which will help to promote their growth'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with missing prepositions, awkward phrasing, and subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'parents has to follow' and 'it better to set free kids'. Punctuation and article usage also show recurrent flaws. Because these errors do not severely impede overall communication, the writing aligns best with Band 5.5.
