Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response only partially addresses the prompt as it is severely under-length, reaching just 152 words against the 250-word minimum requirement. While the writer attempts to discuss both views regarding organised group activities versus independent play and touches upon a personal position by stating 'i believe the llatter stememt is more suitble', the ideas remain underdeveloped and the essay cuts off mid-sentence at the beginning of the conclusion ('On the other side, some individuals believe tgat edu'). Because the task is cut short, the second view and the overall argument are not fully explored or substantiated. In accordance with the official band descriptors for an incomplete and truncated task, this warrants a band score of 4.5.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay demonstrates some basic organisation, opening with a brief introduction and utilizing transitional markers such as 'One major reason' and 'In addition to this' to link supporting points. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final paragraph is abruptly cut off, preventing a complete structural layout. Referencing and cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or faulty, such as 'those adults who already indulge in community activities... then those who do not involve them' (mixing comparative structures). Although logical sequencing is visible in the body paragraph, the lack of a proper conclusion and the truncated nature of the text limit overall cohesion and progression. This performance aligns with a band score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The student uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common collocations such as 'soft skills', 'social network', and 'community activities'. However, there are numerous lexical and spelling inaccuracies throughout the text, including 'llatter stememt' (latter statement), 'suitble' (suitable), 'tgat' (that), and awkward phrasing like 'indulge in the community work' instead of engaging in community work. Furthermore, word choice errors such as 'spirits' instead of 'spirit' in 'team spirits' detract from the precision of the writing. These noticeable errors and limited control over less common vocabulary place this criterion at a band score of 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writing exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some ambition with structures like 'One major reason why some people support the children to participate... is that it builds soft skills'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors such as subject-verb agreement issues ('whether the children should indulge', 'work with strangers can assist them to learn'), preposition errors ('in new environment'), and comparative flaws ('more active... then those'). Additionally, there are capitalization and typographical mistakes ('i believe'). Because attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and errors cause some difficulty for the reader, this merits a band score of 5.0.
