Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many parents are inspiring their children to take part in organised group activities in their spare time. Other parents oppose this development as they think that it is a crucial for thier children to learn how to spend time themselves on their own. I firmly believe that parents should motivate their children to do more group activities. This essay will discuss both of these views.
On the one hand, some parents try to make their children an independent. As a result, they do not want their young children to take part in any sorts of a group activity. They would like to see that how their children play with themselves without getting anxious or irritated. This help them to become an independent which is good for their future too. Such parents feel that, there will be time when their children need to live alone without friends and families. This practise would be able to help them to survive those phases without others help.
On the other hand, many people including me believe that taking part in well-organised group sports or activities like eating together is the most important lesson, especially for children. This can prevent children to become an introvert in the future. For example, when I was a child, I did not like to participate in a group. Later, I become an introvert that caused me so many problems in my work life. It took me several years to become an extrovert. If children are able to enjoy the company of others from a young age, it will be easier for them to get along with people in the future. Moreover, they can learn many skills from other children.
To conclude this, some parents like to teach their children, how to enjoy their own company while others want that their children become more comfertable while being a part of a group as that is one the important skills to have in a life. I strongly agree with this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views—that parents should encourage organised group activities and that children should learn to occupy themselves independently—and presents a clear personal position in favour of group activities. The ideas are relevant and supported by personal experience, such as the author's childhood reluctance to join groups and how it affected their work life. However, some arguments lack deeper elaboration. For instance, the discussion on independence could be more fully developed with broader societal or psychological perspectives rather than relying solely on general statements. Overall, the task is adequately fulfilled, corresponding to a Band 6.5 or 6 descriptor.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression with a standard four-paragraph structure. Introduction and conclusion are present, and body paragraphs are demarcated with standard cohesive markers such as 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or awkward, such as 'This help them to become an independent' and 'To conclude this', which reflect mechanical usage rather than smooth progression. Paragraphing is generally appropriate, but the concluding paragraph is rather weak and repetitive, failing to effectively synthesise the main points. Cohesion is functional but lacks flexibility, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with some attempts at less common lexical items such as 'inspire', 'oppose', 'extrovert', and 'introvert'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including spelling mistakes ('thier' instead of their, 'comfertable'), grammatical form errors ('make their children an independent', 'become an independent'), and awkward phrasing ('play with themselves', 'do not like to participate in a group'). These lexical inaccuracies indicate a Band 6 level, as they demonstrate an adequate range with some attempts at complex vocabulary, though errors are noticeable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting relative clauses and conditional structures ('If children are able to enjoy...'). However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement errors ('This help them', 'it is a crucial'), article misuse ('an independent' as a noun, 'a group activity'), and preposition/word form issues ('prevent children to become' instead of from becoming). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they persist across multiple sentences, placing the writing firmly in the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range. A Band 6 is awarded as meaning is generally clear despite the recurrent inaccuracies.
