Student answer (Band 6.0)

Group participation has a big impact on child's growth. Many people think that this should be encouraged as much as possible while others do not agree with the same beleive. According to my perspective, one should know how to take part in group activities instead of being on their own. Both the views will be discussed along with my opinion in the forthcoming paragraphs.

First of all, if a child knows how to participate in a group, he or she acquires team spirit. To be more precise, the child get to know how to tolerate things, how to communicate with each other and how to help others. For example, if there is a group competition, children can help each other to improve themselves, by helping each other on their weak points. As a result, their confidence level increases.

On the other hand, many people discusses that children should know how to occupy themselves on their own. In other words, thay should know how to keep themselves busy in their free time. Children should not depend on anyone else for anything. They should be independent. But, this aspect has many drawbacks. If a child does everything on his/her own, he/she does not know how to deal with other people, eventually it will affect his/her overall abilities. In today's time, team work plays an important role in almost all the big companies. Therefore, group work should be the priority for all the growing children.

In the conclusion, team work should be given more value instead of working alone starting from the school level so that children should not face any difficulties when they will face the real world after their schooling which is business or corporate world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on children's activities and providing a clear personal position in the introduction and conclusion. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For instance, the discussion on group activities is supported with relevant points about team spirit and communication, whereas the alternative view regarding children occupying themselves independently is somewhat under-developed and relies on general assertions rather than extended examples. The main arguments are generally relevant, but deeper exploration of both perspectives would be needed to reach a higher level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression throughout. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'First of all', 'On the other hand', and 'In the conclusion'. However, some referencing is slightly mechanical or repetitive, and certain cohesive links between sentences feel formulaic rather than smoothly integrated, which prevents the response from achieving a higher level of cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'team spirit', 'independent', and 'corporate world'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and spelling errors that prevent a stronger impression, such as 'child's growth' missing an article ('a child's growth'), the misuse of 'beleive' instead of the noun 'belief', and the incorrect verb form in 'many people discusses' instead of 'discuss'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect limitations in lexical precision and word-form control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional clauses ('If a child knows...') and relative clauses. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, such as pronoun-antecedent inconsistencies ('thay should know'), run-on phrasing ('...dealing with other people, eventually it will affect...'), and minor prepositional inaccuracies. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication, and the sentence structures remain generally comprehensible, fitting the profile of a response with a moderate range of grammatical accuracy.
