Student answer (Band 6.0)
Childrens are innocent and have not developed cognitive abilities at an early age. They should be directed to the right way in order to improve their skills. Some people say that parents should motivate them to participate in social activities or game in their leisure time, whereas others say that they should be left on their own so they can find their way to get busy. From my perspective, it is a better choice if their parents involved in this matter rather than leaving them on their own. This essay will discuss both perspective in detail.
To begin, there are several reasons why parents should provide guidence. The first and foremost reason is that they have gained experience over time and they know their kids better than anyone else. Therefore, they should be given authority to take control on their child. Furthermore, kids are innocent and they do not have any ideas of what activities are beneficial for them. Such group activities may improve their life experiences, and social skills. It also enhance their communication and personal skills which helps them to build good career.
On the other hand, some people argue that they should be given chance to do everything by themselves because they may learn from their mistakes and parents would possibly not help them throughout the life. Therefore, it is better option if they find a way to keep themselves busy rather than relying on their parents.
To sum up, it is scientifically proved that children who have received a support in their childhood have more chance of succed than the ones without any supports. It is mainly because success may boost their confidence. Child who have done everything by themselves may succeed in the future, but their process would be much slower because of many setbacks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both views on how children should spend their free time and clearly stating a personal opinion in favor of parental involvement. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others. For example, while the arguments regarding parental guidance and the benefits of group activities are explored, the counter-perspective about children learning from their own mistakes is somewhat brief and under-developed, lacking specific examples to support why a slower process with setbacks might be disadvantageous or beneficial. The position is clear throughout the essay, but extending the supporting arguments further with more detailed explanations would elevate this aspect of the response.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear logical progression of ideas from the introduction through body paragraphs to a summary conclusion. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately to separate different viewpoints and arguments. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' are employed to guide the reader through the text, successfully demonstrating the lower band requirements. However, cohesion is at times slightly mechanical or repetitive in its linking phrases, and referencing can occasionally feel abrupt. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to integrate cohesive devices more naturally and ensure smoother transitions between sentences and paragraphs without relying on formulaic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully communicating the writer's ideas about childhood development and structured activities. The writer attempts less common vocabulary items, such as 'cognitive abilities', 'leisure time', and 'setbacks', but there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and word forms. Examples of lexical slips include 'Childrens' instead of 'children', 'guidence' instead of 'guidance', 'succed' instead of 'succeed', and the awkward phrase 'if their parents involved' where a verb is missing. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score because of frequent minor inaccuracies in spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'children who have received a support in their childhood have more chance of succed'. There are some grammatical errors in article usage, plurals, and verb forms, such as missing articles ('a support' instead of 'support'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Child who have done'), and prepositions. However, these errors rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear throughout. To achieve a higher band, the writer must increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and exercise tighter control over grammatical patterns and articles.
