Student answer (Band 6.0)

According to my perspective, I believe that both the scenario are very crucial for development of the childrens. Taking part in group activities really helps in boosting their confidence and understanding with a positive attitude which is beneficial for the children in long term as it is suggested to have a good networking skills which can eventually open many great opportunities for an individual. Some children are shy and introvert in nature, such activities can make that fear of expressing themselves and speaking in public and being a part of activity vanish in some time as they participate regularly which can help children with cognitive skills and knowledge. Whereas on the other hand occupying themselves is for personal growth and learning a new skill which an individual can discover over a period of time. For example, I was very shy and introverted student in my school so my parents enrolled me in public speaking champaigns so that I could face my fear and overcome them slowly and steadily and for my personal growth in a specific skill they encouraged me to do whatever I feel like which makes me happy from inside and creates an impact to society in any way. I was really fond of clicking pictures of landscapes and random objects and my parents helped me with all the equipments and gears to pursue photography and make a career in it because I was so much into it. I did capture some of the most beautiful pictures which were recognized by the famous photographers on Twitter and motivated me to carry on and do it professionally.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the benefits of organised group activities and independent solo time, while also providing a clear personal opinion. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the writer's personal experience overcoming shyness through public speaking and developing a passion for photography independently. However, there is a clear tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as stating broadly that group activities always vanish public fear and build networking skills. The arguments are generally well-developed and maintain a clear position throughout the piece.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response suffers from significant structural issues regarding paragraphing, as the entire text is presented as a single, massive block of text rather than being broken down into logical paragraphs for introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. While there is a coherent overall arrangement of ideas moving from group activities to solo activities and then to personal examples, the cohesion is sometimes faulty and mechanical. Referencing and transitional phrasing are weak, making the progression of ideas feel dense and occasionally difficult for the reader to navigate smoothly without clear visual breaks between distinct points.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items and phrasing such as 'cognitive skills', 'networking skills', 'landscapes and random objects', and 'professionally'. However, there are noticeable word choice, word form, and collocation inaccuracies that surface throughout the response, such as 'both the scenario are very crucial' instead of 'both scenarios are crucial', and 'public speaking champaigns' instead of 'campaigns'. These errors do not seriously impede overall communication, but they reflect a vocabulary profile that fits comfortably at the mid-level range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response shows a limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on long, run-on sentences connected by coordinating conjunctions and relative pronouns rather than a balanced mix of simple and complex forms. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause some difficulty for the reader, such as agreement issues ('both the scenario are'), missing articles ('an introvert in nature'), and run-on clauses where full stops or semicolons are missing. Attempts at complex sentence structures often become overly convoluted and grammatically unstable, reflecting a need for tighter control over basic sentence boundaries and punctuation.
