Some people say that parents should encourage their children to take part in organised group activities in their free time. Others say that it is important for children to learn how to occupy themselves on their own.

Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 5.0)

nowadays many parents are foucsing on eductional activities on their childrens

numerous parents are trying to give an option to jion a group study because they think that learning in the groups is better than single however a student can learn alot while he is sitting in the gathering with the other students because on that time all students are working on the same task with different techniques and mind so everybody can gives their views on relevent task easily more accurately even some students are sharp minded so they can give their best reveiws about presentation and if someone didnot get the right answer so he can also take the hint and and best solution about the task its a big advantage in group studies many minds can slove difficult questions with in the time and share their ideas with other students .

on the other hand some people says that learning alone is good habit for student because he can give their complete focus on their studies and because he dont have any other person to talk and even if he gets stucks on some task he would put pressue in their mind and slove their problems their own while studying alone is exceptional for him he dont get distraction of other students for example this habit will help him in future activities as well he dont rely on others to slove their issues he will able to slove theri daily problems on their own

In my point of veiw , boths are good option for students but in learning in group are more useful because students can get so many answers on the same topic and by compairing with answers with others they can get the most accurate remedy

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both views: the group-study paragraph explains how students can share techniques and help one another, while the next paragraph argues that independent study builds focus and self-reliance. Your final sentence also gives a preference for group learning. However, the discussion is only partly developed: the examples remain general, and the task concerns organised group activities in children’s free time, whereas much of your response shifts to studying and school tasks. The opinion is present but brief, and the reasons for preferring group activities could be explained more fully. To strengthen the response, keep the examples closely tied to children’s leisure activities and explain how each view benefits their development.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with separate paragraphs for group learning, independent learning, and your opinion. This helps the reader identify the two sides. However, progression within the paragraphs is difficult to follow because many ideas are joined into very long sentences, often with repeated links such as “because,” “and,” and “so.” For example, the first main paragraph moves from shared techniques to students’ reviews and then solving questions without clear sentence boundaries. Some connections are also unclear, as in “while studying alone is exceptional for him.” Use shorter sentences, organise each paragraph around one main reason, and use linking phrases selectively to show contrast and consequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “complete focus,” “distraction,” “share their ideas,” and “rely on others,” which helps communicate the main points. However, the range is limited and several words or phrases are repeated, especially “students,” “task,” and “solve.” There are also frequent spelling errors, such as “eductional,” “relevent,” and “compairing,” and some word combinations are unnatural, including “give an option to join a group study” and “get the most accurate remedy.” These choices sometimes make the meaning less clear. Build a wider set of topic-specific expressions and check spelling and collocations carefully; for example, use “participate in group activities” and “reach a well-supported answer.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to express reasons and contrasts using clauses with “because,” “if,” and “while,” so there is some effort to form more than simple sentences. However, these longer structures are often faulty, and frequent errors can make the reader work to understand the meaning. Examples include “many parents are focusing,” where the verb form is incorrect, “a student can learn … because … all students are working,” where the sentence runs on, and “he don’t have,” which has incorrect subject–verb agreement. Articles, plurals, and punctuation are also inconsistent. Practise building accurate short sentences first, then combine them with one subordinate clause at a time. Check agreement, verb forms, and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
